The Ministry of Health and Population issued a set of mandatory regulatory measures for all private medical facilities, with the aim of promoting safe natural childbirth and reducing the rates of non-medically justified Caesarean operations. new criteria to reduce the birth rate
Dr. Hussam Abd al-Ghafar, the official spokesman of the Ministry, said that these measures represent a pivotal step to raise the level of services for women and children in the private sector, in line with the initiative of the Presidency “Al-Alf-Yum-Dahhabiyah for the Development of the Egyptian Family”.

He explained that the ministry aims to promote the safety of mothers and children by ensuring the implementation of best medical practices, and the close follow-up of periodic statistical reports.
The ministry required medical institutions to submit detailed monthly statistical reports, including: the total number of deliveries in each facility, the number of Caesarean deliveries and their classification according to the “Robson” system, and an analysis of the reasons for performing Caesarean operations based on “Bartogram” data, and the challenges faced by the medical team during implementation.
And the implementation of these reports will begin at the end of the current month, with the continuous commitment to submit them periodically, and to ensure effective implementation, the ministry has tasked the health management departments of the governorates to follow the implementation of these procedures and evaluate the performance of medical facilities continuously.
Dr. Hisham Zaki, the head of the Central Administration of Non-Governmental Medical Institutions, confirmed that the ministry required medical care for women and children in the private sector in accordance with the standards approved by the Egyptian Health Council, pointing out that the “Bartogram” tool, a universal tool for monitoring the progress of labor stages, will be used compulsorily to follow natural births accurately, which allows doctors to detect any challenges early and intervene at the right time to ensure the safety of the mother and the baby.
“Zaki” added, that the “Robson classification” application contributes to documenting every birth case and determining whether a caesarean section is medically necessary, which enhances transparency and facilitates monitoring and evaluation operations, pointing out that electronic records will be used to facilitate data analysis and follow-up compliance with standards.
The Ministry of Health and Population confirms its responsibility to ensure the quality of health services in the private sector, through strict monitoring and monitoring mechanisms.
