Dr. Ahmed Rafiq Awad, head of the Al-Quds Center for Studies, said that the ongoing demonstrations and political disputes inside Israel reflect the deep crises Israel faces after the public war on the Palestinian people, which it described as idolatry and ethnic cleansing.
Awad added, during an interview with the journalist Karim Hatem, on the “Al-Qahira Al-Ikhbariya” channel, that Israel is in a state of increasing guilt because of the ruling mentality that relies on the use of force without regard to any compromises, which is similar to “political suicide”, indicating that the Israeli public, despite its repeated demands and continuous demonstrations, was not able to overthrow the government or disrupt public life.
وتعاب: “It must be understood that Israel is not a real democracy, it is based on discriminatory laws between different groups, so demonstrations and protests do not seriously affect the stability of the current government.”
And about the impact of the protests on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, he confirmed instead that the opposition in Israel is not strong politically or organizationally compared to the government, which has a clear program and the ability to absorb anger and change its priorities.
Regarding the security differences within the Israeli army over the occupation of Gaza City, he explained instead that the differences are purely technical and not the initial differences about the goal of the operation, because it suffers from problems in personnel, vehicles and logistics, not in the strategic vision, pointing out that the security leadership wants to implement a complete occupation of Gaza City despite the large involvement and expected losses.
وواسیل: “Al-Jeesh wants to completely destroy the city, like what happened in the Palestinian rift and the house of Hanoon, and it’s a terrible thing.”
