Dr. Mustafa Madbouli, the Prime Minister, during his visit to the Nirak Railway Industry Factory (Nirik) on Monday, held a ceremony to sign the contract agreement between 21 metro trains and 189 cars in favor of the Alexandria Metro project (Abu Qir – Egypt Station) in the presence of the General Engineer, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, Walid Jamal Al-Din, President of the General Authority for the Economic Zone of the Swiss Channel.
The value of the agreement is 275,020,276 euros, including the supply of spare parts and special equipment, as well as the implementation of maintenance works for 10 years, including the total life of one person, and the duration of the contract is 38 months.

The Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, the Minister of Industry and Transport, confirmed that this signing comes as part of the implementation of the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, the President of the Republic, to nationalize various industries in Egypt, including the railway industry, with the aim of turning Egypt into a regional industrial center. 40 metro trains, a total of 320 new air-conditioned metro cars, with the company Nirk and the partnership with Hyundai Rotim Korean South Africa, and for the second and third lines of the Cairo Metro.
