Jumanji 4 Begins Filming As First Look Image Is Revealed

A first image from Jumanji 4 reveals all the video game players joining the real world as filming begins on the adventure series’ latest sequel. The upcoming Jumanji 4 began active development in October 2024, with the core cast set to reprise their roles for the sequel. Filming for the upcoming installment began on November 11, 2025 in Los Angeles.

Now, the official Jumanji Instagram has released an image of Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Dwayne Johnson, and Jack Black as filming on Jumanji 4 begins. The four are standing in front of a city background, while the post caption reads “Look who’s on the loose.” The image appears to be teasing their characters arriving in the real world:

The image follows up on the ending of Jumanji: The Next Level back in 2019, which hinted that the titular game would be breaking into the real world. During the previous film’s post-credits scene, a repairman ends up triggering the game. This leads to Spencer (Alex Wolff) and his friends witnessing a herd of ostriches suddenly appear.

While the animals appearing makes for one problem, the core cast from inside the game makes it even more chaotic. The core characters used the ones from the game as their avatars; they were one and the same. But, with said characters now appearing in the real world, they may have entirely different motives and personalities from their real-world counterparts.

In addition to the four main avatars in the game, Jumanji 4 will see the return of Nick Jonas as Jefferson “Seaplane” McDonough and Awkwafina as Ming Fleetfoot, expected to appear in the real world. It doesn’t seem like Rory McCann will be coming back as Jurgen the Brutal, nor has the sequel confirmed if his player will be revealed.

This may also be the last of the Jumanji movies, as stated by Hart in March 2023. The real-world element seems as big as the movies can get, crossing each character over and giving everyone a core part to play in the story. It also means anything that’s been left unresolved can be addressed, adequately tying together dangling story threads.

With Jumanji 4 promising an even bigger adventure thanks to this latest image, the upcoming installment has a chance to be the franchise’s most memorable. Depending on how the sequel handles the real-world elements, this could become one of the most high-octane installments of the series so far. It can also provide a memorable finale to the long-running franchise.
