The Kia company achieved a new historical achievement after setting a world record in driving range for all-electric vehicles, as the PV5 car, the first light electric vehicle (eLCV) manufactured by Kia in the utility vehicle (PBV) category, entered the Guinness World Records™ with the following achievement:
“The longest distance that a light electric truck can handle with a single charge is 693.38 kilometers (430.84 miles).”
The company used the PV5 version for long-range transportation (Cargo Long Range) and equipped with four doors with a battery capacity of 71.2 kilowatts/hour, with the maximum permissible load of 665 kilograms. And the car was able to cut the mentioned distance with one charge, setting a new standard in efficiency and endurance in the category of light commercial electric vehicles.
It was tested on September 30, 2025 on public roads located north of Frankfurt in Germany, under real operating conditions that reflect daily use.
In this context, Hu Song Song, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of the Kia company, said: “The benchmark achieved by the PV5 car for transportation represents an important milestone that embodies Kia’s vision of transportation solutions that go beyond the traditional concept of transportation. This amazing achievement proves that the multi-purpose vehicle platform is not just an innovative idea, but a practical and effective system that can be relied on in real life.”
The standard driving range demonstrates the efficiency of the Kia PV5 in daily driving
تم توصيل مسار القرآن carefully ليهاكي واقد عقيقة توصيل والتوصيل والتوسيل. فعلى دورة بلغة 58.2 كيمتورً تمتمنت ترقًً در بدون و خریدها, I encountered a Kia PV5 vehicle for transportation, traffic signals, intersections, doors, and normal traffic — exactly as it faces traffic in daily driving. The challenge didn’t stop at that point, as the car reached a height of about 370 meters in each cycle, and completed 12 complete cycles, loaded with its maximum load, before stopping at the end of the second cycle. These harsh conditions clearly demonstrated PV5’s high efficiency and superior reliability, proving that it is an ideal partner for sustainable urban mobility solutions.
the heroes behind the wheel
A number of heroes participated in this historic event, including the driver of the car that achieved the record, including George Barrow, a journalist specializing in commercial vehicles, and Christopher Nigmeyer, chief engineer at the Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center.
The winner of international awards in the field of journalism has more than 15 years of experience in covering the affairs of light commercial vehicles, and he is a member of the judging panel of the International Van Award for the Best Cars of the Year” since 2016 on behalf of the United Kingdom. As for Nighmayr, who has degrees in mechanical engineering, he is one of the members of the PV5 development team.
Baro commented on this achievement: “I am honored to be part of the event of registering a Kia car for an amazing number in the Guinness World Records™. It was a journey full of challenges and an unforgettable experience. I was amazed by the performance of the Kia PV5; after covering more than 690 kilometers with one battery and a full load, this is a huge achievement, and I am sure it will easily surpass the competition! It was the cooperation with Christopher and the vehicle itself A wonderful experience made me proud of the electric vehicle.
Christopher Nighmayr added: “For me as an engineer, this was a technical and personal challenge in that unit. George brought a lot of experience from his experiences with other cars, while I had the advantage of detailed knowledge of all the details of the PV5. The experience quickly turned into a friendly competition between us to see who could extract the most energy from each kilowatt/hour. And in the end, the car was the one that bested us with its capabilities.”
And the preparation to try to break the record was done very carefully, as the experts from the two German agencies, namely TÜV Hessen for inspection and technical compliance and Buck Vermessung, specialized in surveying engineering and maps, on the process of loading the vehicle and making sure that the weight matches the prescribed specifications. The journey was fully documented with GPS devices and cameras inside the cabin. And before starting, the PV5 battery was charged to 100%, then the charging port and the cargo compartment were officially opened until the end of the journey, which lasted 22 hours and 30 minutes.
The first member of the family of multi-use vehicles from Kia (PBV)
The PV5 is the first model in the family of multi-use vehicles from Kia, and it is based on the electric service standard platform (E-GMP.S) concerned with innovation and design with the concept of “modifiable blocks”, which allows great flexibility in the production of various versions of the car, such as the transport version, the passenger version, and the version equipped for wheelchairs, as well as there is a version that can be customized to meet the various commercial and personal needs.
The PV5 version offers a loading space of up to 4.4 cubic meters, and a load capacity of up to 790 kg, with multiple battery options of 51.5, 71.2, and 43.3 kilowatts/hour (the latter will be available later), depending on the nature of each customer’s employment and operational needs.
Sang Dae Kim, executive vice president of Kia and head of the multi-purpose vehicle unit, said: “This achievement proves the high efficiency and reliability of the PV5 vehicle. The combination of its long-range availability and practicality in daily driving reflects our vision in Kia to provide more intelligent and sustainable mobility solutions that help individuals and companies to enhance productivity in their daily lives.”
وبهذا الرقم القدمي المسجّل في موسوعة غينيس للرقام الرقامة, confirms its continuous commitment to modern mobility solutions characterized by efficiency, practicality and stability. It is planned to display the Kia PV5 car for transport that achieved the standard at the Solutrans exhibition in the French city of Lyon (EurExpo) at Alqaـة 5, Al-Janah C130, starting from November 18, 2025.
