Comprehensive health insurance covers all members of the family and is gradually implemented in the governorates

Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj al-Din, adviser to the President of the Republic for Health Affairs, confirmed that the recent international recognition from the World Health Organization for what has been achieved in the health sector in Egypt, reflects the real feeling of the Egyptian citizen, both in terms of the quality of health care provided, and in terms of improving human health indicators, including children’s health, the average life expectancy, and the death rate.

He added in a telephone interview with the media, Hadir Abu Zaid, the introduction of the “All Dimensions” program, via the “Extra News” channel, that the beginning of the implementation of the comprehensive health insurance system was a significant step in improving the quality of health services, as it began to be implemented in 6 or 7 governorates, and it is expected to begin implementation in the Alexandria governorate during this year or early next year, with the emphasis that the health institutions are prepared and equipped before they actually enter the system.

Dr. Mohammad Awad Taj al-Din pointed out that the system works to guarantee the quality, safety and efficiency of the service, thanks to the existence of independent bodies for funding, care and control, all of which work within a clear regulatory framework.

And the president’s adviser on health issues explained that comprehensive health insurance covers all family members, not just the individual who believes in it, and it does not represent a significant difference to previous insurance systems.

He added that the state is responsible for paying the contributions of non-capables, to ensure their access to health care, confirming that the gap between what is available and what the citizen needs is addressed through initiatives such as “Good Life” and “100 Million Health”, in addition to the special initiatives to reduce the waiting list.
