A passenger has shared that they forgot one crucial item while preparing for a three-week European holiday, and issued a warning to other tourists to double check you have everything you need
A man’s holiday was temporarily derailed when he realized a crucial item had been left behind after arriving at the airport. The man’s three-week holiday to Europe was placed in jeopardy after he shared a picture of what he was missing. His mistake has since gone viral on the r/MidlyInfuriating Reddit page.
His post has left hundreds of people in stitches, with the minor inconvenience more embarrassing than anything else. Some were left wondering how the man had managed to make it to the airport, let alone without forgetting other essential items like passports or luggage while still managing to make a bizarre mistake.
The post to the r/MildlyInfuriating forum has delighted and confused people in equal measure. The passenger wrote: “On my way to Europe for three weeks, realized once at the airport that I forgot to put on my shoes.”
Members of the public have found this incident hilarious, with many suggesting the traveler has done well to make it to the airport with other items.
One person wrote: “Sounds like you’re going to forget your passport at this rate.”
Others are sharing similar travel horror stories, with forgotten passports and other items putting a sudden end to their travels.
One person shared: “If it makes you feel better…when I was a teenager I lived in Brazil for a few years. I flew to England to visit family at one point.
“Was wearing a t-shirt, shorts and flip flops because it’s Brazil…the temp where I was living never dropped below 70 degrees F.
“My layover was in Brussels, in January, and they parked on the tarmac. I realized my mistake when the flight attendant said “Current local temp is 0 degrees” as they opened the doors to let everyone off to walk down stairs and get in a shuttle bus to get to the terminal.”
Another added: “My family was once on a trip to Jamaica and when returning home, my dad had such bad food poisoning that he was in a fugue state.
“He put his passport in his shoe during security and couldn’t find it to make it on the flight, him and my mom had to rent a hotel room in Kingston to go get a new one from the US embassy. She saw it in his shoe when he went to take a shower and flights were crazy expensive so it was cheaper to stay a couple more days. Crazy setback of events.”
The original poster confirmed they were traveling to Norway for a three-week holiday, and their accidental lack of footwear wasn’t ideal.
They explained: “I’ll get shoes there I guess cause it might get chilly in Norway but I won’t have my insoles.”

“I thought I’d brought them into the pickup but it turns out I left them at home.”
