Mary Berry has shared a plethora of breakfast recipes throughout her career, including this French toast one, which can be made in four simple steps
French toast is a beloved breakfast dish created by dipping bread slices in a blend of whisked eggs and milk. It’s frequently prepared using day-old bread that might otherwise be discarded.
Mary Berry has revealed numerous breakfast recipes during her culinary journey, including this French toast version, which requires just four straightforward steps. The recipe description on BBC Food stated: “Use whatever staple white bread you have in the bread bin for this fabulous French toast. It makes a brilliant weekend brunch drenched in honey with fresh berries.”
Ingredients (to serve two)
Two free-range eggs, according to that the Express.
One teaspoon of golden caster sugar.
Pinch of salt.
Pinch of ground cinnamon.
Half a teaspoon of vanilla extract.
125 ml of milk.
White bread.
Butter, for frying.
To serve:
Honey.
Maple syrup.
Fruits, including berries.
Method
Begin by whisking the eggs together and incorporating the sugar, salt, cinnamon, vanilla and milk until well combined. Immerse the bread slices into the mixture and allow them to absorb the liquid on both sides for several seconds.
Heat butter in a frying pan over medium temperature. Once the butter has melted, place the bread into the pan. Cook on both sides until they turn golden brown, then serve with your preferred accompaniments. I presented mine with maple syrup, icing sugar, and some kiwi alongside.
The French toast tastes absolutely divine. The golden caster sugar produces a delightful caramel flavor, while the cinnamon and vanilla contribute a marvelous sweetness. I adore its simplicity in preparation, its high degree of customization, and the fact that it can be savored with berries, streaky bacon or just as it is.
