American press reports revealed the details of the unprecedented gift presented by the American President Donald Trump to the Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo during his last visit to the White House, at the end of the official dinner held in honor of the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

And the photos released by the American presidency of Ronaldo appeared and he carried a luxurious wooden box containing a huge key made of yellow copper, which caused a lot of controversy and questions about the nature of this rare gift and its symbol.

According to international newspapers, Trump is specifically asking for this key, and he is only giving it to a limited number of people who he receives in private meetings inside his official residence.

And what Ronaldo got is what is known as the “key of the White House”, which is a souvenir carefully designed inside a wooden box bearing the seal of the American presidency and a picture of the White House, while the key itself bears the official pattern and the words “Key of the White House”, and presenting this key to a guest is considered a sign of personal appreciation from the American president, and is only given on special occasions.

And Ronaldo took part in the official dinner at the White House, along with prominent political, economic and sports figures, before Trump met again the next morning inside the White House, where he was greeted with a gift.

Ronaldo later posted a thank you message via his Instagram account, saying: “Thank you to Mr. President for the invitation and warm reception that I received and my letter, for each of us there is something important to offer, and I am ready to do my duty and we will help the generations to build a future based on courage, responsibility, and peace.”
