The Desert Research Center, represented by the Center for Sustainable Development of Al-New Valley Resources, received a high-level delegation from the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development and the International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas “Aycarda”, to inspect the activities of the “Innovative Desert Agriculture for Sustainable Livelihoods” project, which is being implemented by the New Valley and Aswan.
On his part, Dr. Hussam Shawki, the head of the Desert Research Center, said that this visit comes under the instructions of Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reform, to strengthen scientific cooperation with international organizations, which contributes to the promotion of sustainable agricultural development efforts, adding that this project, funded by the Spanish Agency, aims to improve the quality of life in desert areas through the application of innovative and integrated agricultural techniques.
Shawky emphasized that this project is a successful model for international cooperation in facing environmental challenges, as it contributes directly to the realization of food security and adaptation to the effects of climate change.
On his part, Arab Dr. Muhammad Ezzat, Vice President of the Sahara Research Center for Projects and Research Stations, in appreciation of the cooperation with international authorities, pointing out that the new protection option for the implementation of the project activities is far from promising guidance models for the transfer of modern agricultural technology, which contributes to increasing production and providing work opportunities for rural families.

On his side, Dr. Majid Al-Morsi, Deputy Minister of Agriculture in the new city, thanked the Spanish Agency, the ICARDA organization and the Desert Research Center for their efforts, confirming the importance of continuing this cooperation and expanding the scope of the project’s beneficiaries.
The delegation of the Spanish Agency and “İkarda” expressed their admiration for the remarkable progress in the implementation of the project and the effectiveness of the innovative methods adopted, as well as the cooperation of local farmers, emphasizing that the partnership between the three institutions aims to build the capacity of local communities and empower them to face environmental and economic challenges.
واختتمتمت برقاء اللواء محمد العزملوت, the protector of Al-Wadi Al-Jadid, Balofd Al-Zaire, as he applauded the achievements of the project, calling for the expansion of these promising agricultural projects in the wake of the agricultural revival that the province is witnessing.
