Wedding planner shares one unexpected thing you must know about your future spouse

A wedding planner shared one unknown thing you must know about your partner before you walk down the aisle. Georgina Rose shared the insight in a post on TikTok

If you’re getting married in the near future, chances are you’ve already done a deep dive into the world of wedding dresses, venues and caterers.

However, if you’re planning on having a wedding registrar, Georgina Rose, who plans big days, is urging couples to make sure they know details about their partner and family, as you might not be allowed to get married otherwise.

She said in a TikTok video: “Before a wedding registrar, you have to have an interview. This interview is a totally non-negotiable, must have, must do, legal requirement.

“You will have a meeting with the registry office before your wedding, like weeks before, whatever. They will ask you questions at that meeting that will then come up again on your wedding day. AKA you need to remember the sh*t you said.”

She went on to explain the questions asked by the registry office could range from anything including your name, where you live, your job, about previous relationships and make sure you do want to get married.

Georgina added: “And they will ask you questions like ‘what does your partner’s parents do for work?’ 99% of the information was absolutely fine, but I got stuck when they were like ‘what does your parents do for work?’

“Yes, I did have to text my parents to say ‘what is your job title?’ Then on the wedding day itself, you will have an interview with the registrar and your partner will have an interview with the registrar. The groom is typically half an hour before the ceremony, and the bride is typically 15 minutes, like literally just before the ceremony.”

She explained how you’ll then be re-asked all of the same questions, including questions about your partner and their family, and to clarify you actually want to get married.

“Don’t fear this interview, but you do need to take it seriously,” she said.

However, having to know what your parents’ job titles are is only important in the interview if you’re planning on having them named in the marriage certificate.

One person asked: “Already married but I thought they only asked parents professions if you wanted them named on the marriage certificate?” to which Georgina replied: “Yes this is true. Most people opt to include this though.”
