This interview has been edited for Clarity and Length.

DEADLINE: AS YOU HEAD INTO YOUR SEVARE SEASON, WHAT ARE THE MAIN PRIORITIES FOR THE PLL?

Paul Rabil: One of the say is, for the first time with our network partner espn we are rolling out a new brand Called Saturday Night Lacrosse. It CREATES APPOINTMENT Watching Throughout The Entire Summer. We have 17 on-air combinations with linear exposser between abc, espn and espn2, and then all of the games on espn+.

Deadline: Your Season Starts Right on the Heels of the Ncaa Tournament and Also Overlaps with College Baseball and Softball, Whose Playoffs Air Across Espn Over the Month. Is there a high overlap between those viewers and your?

Rabil: The College World Series Draws a Big Number, SO we try to get clever with our talent. If an accnsool is Featured and their fans are coming in to the PLL AFTER THE COLLEGE WORLD SERIES, WE CAN TEE INTO A COUPLE OF OUR PLAYERS. There are these moms throughout the Calendar.

Deadline: Do You See Rabil’s Places Also Helping More Viewers Find the Pll?

Rabil: It ‘another example of what i was i was “Third-Door” grown opportunities, where it is just just about the experience of watching a Professional Lacrosse Game. It ‘subout how you can bring in other fans to try the pro product. AS (NBA Commisitor) Adam Silver Wold Say, there are a lot of fans of only College basketball in america, so the league is Constantly trying to convert more basketball fans. Other Third DOORS WOULD INCLUDE INCLDE INTO The Olympics and Lobbying to TRY to Turn the Additional 24 US States Don’t Sanction Lacrosse at the High School Boys and Girls Level.

Deadline: what’s in the work at two point Productions, Your New Company?

Rabil: There’s a project preyTty light on development now, which would be a Major Major Picture with a significant director and a significant writer.

Deadline: So you want to move Beyond unscripted sports?

Rabil: Of the beliefs the scales have tipped into the realm of saturation for unscripted sports follows. You can initiate and greenlight production and turn Through post far more quickly in the unsripped space than you can in scripted. And i do not think very many sports executives or sports organizations have experience with film, eather, and understand the nuances in today Remember the titans or The Mighty Ducks or Rudyor something as Clever as The Queen’s Gambit. SO, WE HAVE Marty Supreme Coming Out, and Smashing machine and the F1 Movie. When you take a sport that is mess relevant, the disproportionate opportunity to the benefit from a hit movie or television series is extraordinary. But these Time Things.

Deadline: from your book to the way you built the PLL AFTER Playing at the pros and at at Johns hopkins in College, it’ve you always set your Well Beyond Lacrosse. Who has made an impression on you and shaped your thinking about business or life in general?

Rabil: Among athletes that I look up to that have Crossed over, you start with dwayne Johnson. You stay with wrestling with Paul Levesque and John Cena and THEN I WOULD SAY IN ACTION SPORTS You look at tony hawk and travis cleanse and sean White. Some of My Most Favorite Courageous Leaders in Sports Wauld Be Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird and Serena Williams. And Adam Silver Has Been A Friend and a Guiding Light Since we were forming the PLL. We have a really great board, with members like joe tsai. I ALSO SPEND A LOT OF TIME WITH ARTISTS, WHATHER THAT’S JEFFREY WRIGHT OR AROOME LIKE Glen Powell, Who Grew Up Playing Lacrosse. I SPEND TIME WITH THEM TO LEARN ABOUT CRAFT AND HOW THINK ABOUT EVERYTHING FROM ACTING TO PRODUCING TO Directing. Someone Like Matt Heineman, Who’s a World-Redowned Director (Cartel Land) Who played lacrosse at dartmouth. IT’S About Being A Sponge and the Beauty in Sport, what’s so Attractive about it is it really touches every industry. There’s Never Been More Crossover Appeal than there is, if you look at fashion or culinary or look at the met gala – three of the four hosts were athletes.

DEADLINE: HIGHTE’S PRETY IMPRESSIVES THAT HE DELIVERED ON HIS PROMISE TO MORE THAN TRIPLE The Value of the NBA Rights Deals, with NBCU and Amazon Jaining Disney-Espn.

Rabil: He’s Got Kevlar Skin. He’s Also Really Clever. He’s forward-thinking and he’s risk-aggrassing and he’s the Consummate Professional. I have talked with Him Frequently, Including Throughout the process he was going through and learning for when rights were coming up. If you’re the nfl or the nba, everyone is showing up with a proposal. For the rest of us, we have to create compelling CASES, Through a Combination of Our Ratings, Our Year-Over-Eyar Growth, Our Plass to Grow, We Have Talk About Audience. In our case, our audience is really Young. They’re native streamers. They have crossover appeal to other sports and entertainment.

Deadline: Speaking of Rights, Your Current 4-Eyar Deal With Disney/Espn is Ending Next Year. Have you been talking with say or oters for the Next Agreement?

Rabil: We’ve been in negotiations for the last several months. We’re Really Close at Arrival at Our Next Network Deal. That announcement will come in the coming Weeks and we’re really excited about it. Since the Last Agreement with Espn, We Created Our “Olympic 6s” Championship Series and the Women’s Lacrosse League. Nor good partners, we tucked these into our Current deal and we think they helped to grown the sport. This Next Round, We’re Looking to Strike A Longer-Term Deal. Our first one was with nbcuniversal, and that was for three years, the current one was four.

Deadline: COULD The Various Pieces, with 6-on-6 and Wll, Be Broken Out Separately? And are you talking with Multiple Potential Partners?

Rabil: Correct on Both. We are so thrilled with our partnership with espn. It ‘everynding we have hoped for. What You Get With Espn, in Addition to the Great Live Coverage, Is A Flywheel Effect of EveryThing they will. It ranges from television shows to have the Larger social media flow of any networking in the world to onsite opportunities or tan Laddering up to dissney’s Team and Potential Crossover Opportunities with Marvel and Our Younger Audience.

Deadline: at the Olympics, the games will be 6-on-6 as opposed to the 10-on-10 played at the PLL and College Levels. What are the advantages to adding 6s?

Rabil: Its been a part of our pitch, first to casey wasserman at la2028 and then with the iOC.

Deadline: I Pictured Olympic Lacrosse Being Played Outdoors, as you will at your Current Pll Sites.

Rabil: With 6s, you can play indoors. It’s 50 yards goal to goal. SO THAT’S ANOTHER EXCITING THING. We Continue to Build Plass Around the Future of a First Professional Lacrosse Stadium, which in my eyes Wauld have a roof for a number of reasons. For one thing, the world is not getting any Coos. And the Production Value Skyrockets. We play the Star in Frisco, TX. We Always Get Feedback from Fans and Players that they can be track the ball better Because of indoor Lighting, theatrical acoustics. Scan Rates for Tickets Goes Up. You would also be able to budild a 10-on-10 in that stadium.

A recent syndicated special section in the chicago sun-etes included an article about cooking “Delicious meals that don’t require turns on the oven.” The article of Author Quoted ACCLAIMED Chef Alice Waters on Oven-Free Cooking “As the ideal way to showcase Peak-Season ingredients,” Citting Her interview with Food & Wine Magazine.

WATERS WAS INDEED INTERVIEWED BY FOOD & WINE IN 2023, AS CIED IN THE SECTION TITLED “Heat Index: Your Guide to the Best of Summer” – But Say Say Anynding in That Interview Like What the Special Sect. WATERS ‘Executive Assistant Said the Chef Didn’t Provide Quote and Wasn’t Interviewed for The SECTION.

The Sun-Times Received Wideespread Criticism Last Week for Publishing the SECTION-WHICH WAS PRODUCED BY A Third Party, King Features-on May 18, after it was fouund to incorlude reacommends to docti dedn’t exist.

A Review by the Sun-Time Newsroom of the 64-Page Special Section Found the ERRORS Extended Far Beyond the Mostly Fake Summer Reading List, with More Missinformation Other Articles in The Edition. The Newsroom Fact-Cocked All 10 Stories With Named Sources and Each of the Articles Had Multiple ERRORS and Information That Couldn’t Be Independently Verified. Some included phony sources and quotes.

In addition, the sun-weti reviW raising quests about an article in another king-produced holiday guide that ran in the sun-time in november. The Newsroom Could Not Confirm The Existence of a Woman Quoted in the Story. Chicago Public Media, Which Ouns the Sun-Times, Said Thursday It Wold the Guide from Its E-Paper Archives, Just as it took Down “Heat Index.

The author of the Content, Chicago-Based freelance Writer Marco Buscaglia, Has Blamed the Eroneous Information, Including the Book Reviews, on His Use of Artificial Intelligence and on What He was HIS HIS HIS FACT-CHEK WHAT THE AI PROGRAM Generated.

Buscaglia Declinehed Wednesday to Comment Specific on the Numerous Problems The Sun-Times Found in the “Heat Index,” which Also Was Published by the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The sun-etes editorial staff had no role in the production of the section, whichs the newspaper and the Inquirer HAD BUGHT from the New York-Based King, A Division of Hears Corp.

Executives for CPM SAID they plan to no Longer Buy special editorial sections from king, though they will continue to relay on the third-part Syndicated provider for comics and puzzles, as the newspaper has done for decades.

In an online article thighsday about the debacle, CPM CEO Melissa Bell Detailed What She Described As A Series of “Human Mistakes” by Buscaglia, King, The Sun-Times and CPM. It Began, Bell Wrote, with Buscaglia’s use of it and a failure to check what it had generated.

“King Features is Conducting Its Own Internal Review, so i uncertain what broke down internally for say, but it is like the team did not CONDUCT A THOROUGH FACT-COCKING OR COPY PROCESS BUSCAGLIA’S WORK OUT TO PARTIES ACCOSS.

Hears Did Not Respond to Multiple Requests for Comment.

Bell Said the Sun-Times Circulation Department Workhed with King and Expection the SECTION “Live Up to a Level of Editorial Rigor That Matches the Standards of Chicago Public Media.” The section was not submitted to the sun-etes journists for the review, and it was published with DISCLINGS THAT HAD PRODUCED IT.

“Instead, they packager it under a sun-etes banner and sent it to homes acroSs the region,” Bell Said of the SECTION, WHICH WAS INSEREDED BETWEEN PAGES FILLED PRIMARILY WITH STROFF-PRODUCED STORIES.

For the past two years, the sun-we have gioven home delivery print readers about 10 Such Special SECTIONS A Year, Charging an Extra $ 3 For Each.

Sun-Time Staff initially wrote the stories that went into the sections, which were intended to stem newspaper revenue.

But Bell Noted that Producing Premium Special Sections was time-consuming for Sun-Time Staff, who also Needed to handle Daily Responsibility. Although the Newsroom Still Produces some sections, the total number that are staff-written has been “scaed back,” she said.

Bell Said the Decision to Buy Special SECTIONS from King Features – Which predated her Arrival at cpm Last year – was a “Creative Solutions to Keep Hitting Revenue Goals FROM FROM PRINT TO Digital Revenue.” She said she had no objection: “I didn’t deeply investigate the editions, and quickly approved the team to continue the practice in place. My reasoning: Let’s not sacrifice any revenue.”

In an April Email to Potential Customers, King Features Had Touted “Heat Index” as “Content-Rich” and a “Premium Summer Lifestyle Section Designed to Entertaine, Inspire, and Energize Your Readers.”

“It is the ultimate seasonal companion – crafted to boost Engagement and Deliver Revenue Opportunities Across Categories,” The Email Boasted.

Buscaglia, a forms suburban newsPaper Journalist, has Said he wrote practically the entity is a side jab and haad worked for about three years on simillar assignments.

One of the First Stories in the Summer Section, Touted As “A look at the hammock boom,” quoted several People who may not exist, or at least these buscaglia said they were.

For Example, A Ryan Leidecker was described as a Product Line Manager at Eagles Nest Outfitters. The Company Said Leidecker is not an Employee Nor Ever Has Been.

Buscaglia Also ciped a Dr. Jennifer Campos as Professor of Leisure Studies at the University of Colorado. The University Says it has no record of an employs named Jennifer Campos.

The Story Quoted Campos as Saying A “Hammock Has Become this Generation’s Equivalent of the Frisbee on the Quad,” from Her “2023 Research Paper Published in the Journal of Contemporary Ethnography.” A search of her name in the Journal yielded nothing.

In the Same Story, Mark Ellison is Identified As an Employe at Grat Smoky Mountains National Park and Warns About the Damage That “Imppropeer Hammock Hanging Techniques” can to trees, with buscaglia noting the information appeared on the website.

Ellison posted on Facebook that was not an employs of the park and said no Such Thing. The National Park Confirmed to the Sun-Times that Ellison Does Not Work there and That is No Such Information About Hammocks on Its Website.

There are well multiple examples of Missinformation in Another Story by Buscaglia About DO-Itourself Backyard Upgrades. Diy blogger beau coffron was ciped as an autoritity on building pergolas with “Proper post anchoring.”

Coffron told the sun-mys, “i never said that. I actually know nothing about installing pergolas. If you need a quote family friendly foods, i’m your guy. For Construction? Not so much.”

A GARDENING AUTHOR WAS QUOTED AS SPEAKING AT A 2024 FLOWER AND GARDEN Festival. Festival organizers said she was not a speaker – and the author had died in 2023.

ALSO CIENT IN THE DIY Article was a 2024 wired magazine by a tech Writer Named Brian Kahn, About up an outdoor movie area in your backyard. Wired Told the sun-etes that kahn has not writhten for the publication and the quote was inaccurate.

And the section’s “Summer Reading List for 2025,” on Page 62, Recommended 15 Book Titles With Reviews, Though 10 of the Titles Were Fake the Authers Were Real.

The author, orir representatives, confirmed to the Sun-Times that the titles were made up. Taylor Jenkins Reid’s Publicist Said The Author’s UpComing Book is “atmosphere,” not “The Collector’s Piece,” Mentioned in the Article. Pulitzer Prize-Winning Author Percival Eveid Said in E-mail, “this is my fake ai respect,” and processed to confirm that “the rainmakers, a novel about People who make rain, has not ben ben … LISTED AT THE AUTHOR OF THE NON-EXISTER “BOILING POINT, LAST WEEK CREATED HERNE READING LIST, POSING ON INSTAGRATION THAT IT“ FIFTEEN REAL BOOKS YOU SHOULD ACTUALLY READ THIS SUMMER. • Nava mau on ‘you,’ Madeline Brewer, and ‘Baby Reindeer’

Nava mau on ‘you,’ Madeline Brewer, and ‘Baby Reindeer’

    Photo: Clifton Prescod/Netflix/Clifton Prescod/Netflix

AFTER FIVE SEASONS STALING, JUDGING, Love Bombing, Gaslighting, and Murdering Beautiful Women, Netflix’s Most Dangerous Serial Monogamist Finally Justice-and an unfortunately not-too-looking buzz cut. You ‘youS Final Ends with Joe Goldberg in a Jail Cell, A Joint Efffort Between Madeline Brewer’s BRONE AND THE POLICE WORK OF NAVA MAU’S DETECTIVE MARQUEZ. Though brief, the detective’s time onscreen is effective: she manages to turn one revealing interrogation into a chance to hold joe accountable while revealing how bronte, as beck’s student forms, has ben trying to bring joe Beck’s Murder.

This isn’t the first time mau’s had to force a reality check on a show full of unrelrable narrators. In Last Year’s Cultural Juggernaut Baby reindeershe played the terri, the girlfriend of Richard Gadd’s Donny and the Person Most Capable of Emotionally Grounding Him. “Once Baby reindeer Reached the scale that it did, everything felt positions, “mau says about the way the emmy-winning series Changed Her Approach to New Project.

How did you prepare for the momentousness of bringing down Joe Goldberg?
There’s an appproach to acting that is sort of discovery bassed, and it really worked for this participation. The Director Wanted US to Focus Entirely On That Episode and What Was Going On BetWeen with and Madeline Brewer’s Character, SO almost felt like on a spinoff or something. We weren’t really talking about Joe Goldberg. We were talking about this girl right in front of me that i had to question.

Did you and Madeline Discuss the Dynamic BetWene Your Characters?
The Director Actually Told Me, “Wen You Show Up in the Morning, You Can Be Polite and Cordial, but don’t talc to maddie. She Said, “Maddie’s Really Sweet, and I Think Y’all Will Probably Hit it off, so actually you need to be kind of mean to her.” Honestly, it didn’t Last Very Long. I Wold Say 10:30 That Morning I Had to Confress and Tel Her, “I’m so sorry, I actually adore you. SO THEN WE HAD TO ACTUALLY BE GOOD ACTRESSES! I Remember Maddie Saying, “Yeah, Bronte, She’s Really Slippery.” And i hadn’t quite realized from what haad reads you couuldn’t Trust this character at all. I originally thought, Maybe She’s JUST Going Through a Crisis. Maybe She’s JUST A Little Overwhelmed. Seeing the way maddie talked about the character and her arc made with the realization of the needed to be Very appreesful about the way of was apprroaching her character. So i’m glad i talked to her.

Right, this show is so much about what we’re Willing to Believe. It is easy to look at Joe as the Most unrelate narrator, but really, every single character has to evaluate where the trust anyone Else.
Also, Can We Trust Ourslves? Obiviously for bronte, that’s the question, but the Mirror is also held up by the detective. THEN THERE MOMENTS WHERE THE DETECTIVE IS CAUGHT OFF Guard and It’a Like, HOLD ON, CAN I Trust What She’s Telling Me and What I Thought was true and what the evidence seamed to suggest? I Can’t Imagine Showing Up to Work, Its Very Late at Night, and i’m Trying to Get The Fuck Out of There. It ‘the end of my shift, it went too anyway, and they made me stay Becausee of was probably only on the team at this small precinct. That’s how I played IT: I’m young Woman on the team and they made me stay. I was thinking about what it must have ben like for someone to have this show up on their desk at the midnight we have not done to be there.

HAD YOU WATCHED ALL OF You Before you were Cast?
I have swimming, and i actually think that was good for the character i came to play. She coma into the story and has to figure out what the fuck is going on, and so it kind of workhed that i genuinely didn’t know.

What Kind of Preparation Did You Do?
I Skimmed Different Seasones to Get a Feel for the Tone and to Undersand Who Joe Goldberg is supposed to be. I readerything the team sent me, which was Only my episode and a letter that was Very thorough that told with how the showrunners were THINING OF THE CHARACTER WITH THE SEASON’S ARC.

How were they Thinking About The Character? Were you thinking about her the same way?
They Said She was anchor anchor and was pivotal to this emotional touring point in the season. I didn’t get to read the whole season, so i didn’t really know what was going on, but they made it CLEAR THIS A PIVOTAL EPISODES IN BRON’S CHARACTER ARC. They really gained the detective character to guide the audience through the discovery of bronto’s transformation. I Waled Not Have Immediately Seen the Character the Way they Framed Her For Me, so i Really Appreciated that.

In bot You and Baby reindeeryou play some of the only characters who are actually grinded in reality and Can Hold Other Characters Accountable. WERE YOU THINKING ABOUT SIMILARITIES BETWEEN The Two Shows were you were filming?
Actually, no. I just dove intto this as another world. But afterward, did realize. On Paper, the tags for the show are “stalking” and “Social Media.” But i didn’t quite realie it at first.

How you will look back on that period of Baby reindeer?
Every Time I Think Back to it, Remember New Things. So many homes happy so quickly and all ata, and every single thing THAT HAPPENED WAS BRAND NEW FORM. It Might be the Most Unbelievable, Highest Volume, Biggest-Scale Period of My Life. I know that manifestation is important, and i know that I want to continue my career, and there’s so many people that want that we well. I’m so grateful for my team. We’re working really hard. And istible that Might have ben it.

Has the success of Baby reindeer Changed the Types of Projects that you’re interests in, or the way you puree say?
Yeah, definitely. I HAD Never Really Thought About ASTION AS A GENRE FOR ME UNIL I DID Baby reindeer. I had to do stunts for two days, and i was likes, Oh my God, i love this. Actually, it was the stunts and The Ballet. I had to do some training outside film, and that was the most fun for me. Once Baby reindeer Reache. Everything felt Possible. I just gave myself permission to Dream Bigger and Further.

And I know you’re planning to release a short film soon.
Yes! Its going to be out next month. A lot of People don’t realize that while the Baby reindeer Explosion was happy, I was simultaneously Having a festival of my Little short movie and going to festivals and screenings. That was just as meaningful to me. IT’s a movie that touches on intimate partner violence. I’ll leave it up to the audiences to decide if they have a healing narrative, but i came on the other side a different person. It sounds so cliché and corny, but i genuinely Needed to make it. I Feel Like it’s Tortured poets department. IT’S Heavy and there’s some sadness and pain, but the process of makeing it was so healing and cathartic. I Hope after Watching it, People know that i am on the other side now.
