Despite its first season not even concluding a full year ago, Dandadan’s hype train proves unstoppable as it continues to rank healthily on streaming charts. With season 2 bowing out this past September, Science SARU is clearly intent on not leaving fans hanging for long. Less than a month since the final, Dandadan season 3 is in production.
As announced by the anime’s official X account, Dandadan season 3 is confirmed to be in full production. This additional reassurance on top of September 18’s confirmation means fans won’t have to wait long at all, especially after the frustrating cliffhanger at the end of season 2. Less than a year after season 1 finished, Dandadan season 3 is imminent.
Dandadan Season 3 Is in Production Less Than a Full Year After Season 1
While Dandadan’s new announcement is certainly going to help reassure fans that the wait won’t be as long for season 3, this production update is fascinating in light of the series to date. With season 2 coming out in less than a calendar year following season 1’s conclusion, and now this latest renewal, Science SARU is on a roll.
With Dandadan season 3 in full production in addition to The Ghost in the Shell and Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia, this production update suggests a late 2026 or early 2027 debut despite initial delay fears. Seasons 1 and 2 felt awkwardly broken up compared to the usual two-hour release. This gives season 3 a new opportunity.
Dandadan season 3 will explore the fallout of Okarun’s compromising moment with the alien girl, closing the Kaiju Arc within its first episodes. But with a two-course treatment, it could handle the subsequent Space Globalists Arc and Onbusuman Arc, with room to lead even further. With a full year at least, Dandadan’s anime is in no danger of catching up.
Dandadan Will Be a Different Beast From Its First Seasons
Every Dandadan episode provides a wild opportunity for adventure, whether it’s traumatized yokai or dangerous living portraits of classical composers. Essentially, no two episodes feel the same, but there’s still plenty to come for Okarun and his increasingly oddball group of allies. The alien girl is just the newest of the bunch, with plenty more to come.
Essentially no two episodes feel the same, but there’s still plenty to come for Okarun and his increasingly oddball group of allies.
New threats will soon emerge, including entirely new races of aliens thirsty for conquest, and other nefarious, overarching enemies. The series will soon be telling fewer bite-sized stories, with two of its longest arcs by far on the way. Dandadan won over fans with seasons 1 and 2; but now it’s got them by the Kintama for the long haul.
