At 200 years old, The Brooklyn Museum Still Knows How to Party. KNOWN FOR THITS OFTEN-SOLD-OUT FIRST SATURDOYE EVENTS, The Museum Held Its Annual Brooklyn Artists Ball Honoring Philanthropist Darren Walker on April 29. The Evening Began on the First Floor with Cocktails and A Performance by the Jamel Gaines Creative Outlet, Underneath the Two 18-Foot Wooden Kaws Sculptures. Guests Were Guided Upstairs to a Hall DRENChed in Rainbow Light by artist Jeffrey Gibson, With Rows of Tablets Lined With Flower Arrangements and Candles in Coordinating Colors.

Walker, The Man of the Hour, Delivered A Standing-Worthy Speech and Thanky Dior for Sponsorsing the Evening, Declaring, “I’m A Warrior for Justice, but I love luxury.” Museum Employees Who Mixed and Mingled With Guests Were Also thananed Profusely by Anne Pasternak. Neither joyful and celebratory as the Evening was, it was clear that threads to cultural institutions from the Current Presidential Administration Were Looming. The Museum’s Response Was Project on the Wall, “In Times of Ugly, The Best Protest is Beauty.”

DINNER ENDED WITH A RASPBERRY MUSSE, and GUESTS HEADED BACK DOWNSTAIRS FOR AFT-PARTY. A Loud Bass Boomed from A Distance As a Row of Waiters Handed Out Espresso Martinis for the Next Port of the Evening. Swizz Beatz, A Museum Trustee, Handled the after-Party. “DON’T LET YOUR PHONE HAVE MORE FUN THAN YOU THIS EVENING,” he announeded over the mic. Playing Classics from the ’90s and AUGHTS and Songs from Famous Brooklynites like Jay-Z, Notorious Big, and Lil Kim, He Interexted Everen to Remind the Crowd to Dance, and of Course They Did. It wasn’t just the attitude who haad fun, a Waiter danced his way through the Crowd while Carrying a Tray of Hors d’Ouvres.
