“Health”: The citizen is a partner in determining the quality of the service within the comprehensive health insurance system

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, confirmed that a law Comprehensive health insurance No. 2 of 2018, carefully sponsored one of the most important principles in modern health systems, which is the separation of the service financier and its provider, and the establishment of an independent control authority for quality.

Abdel Ghaffar explained, during an intervention via the “Extra News” channel, that the law established three independent bodies operating in an integral but without interference, namely: “The Comprehensive Health Insurance Authority and the Health Care Authority, in addition to the General Authority for Accreditation and Health Control.”

He continued: «This body submits its reports directly to the President of the Republic, and is considered one of the guarantees of transparency within the comprehensive health insurance system.

“Abdel Ghaffar” emphasized that the law set a decisive condition for any party that wants to join the comprehensive health insurance system: obtaining quality accreditation from the independent supervisory body, saying: “No medical facility, whether governmental or private, is allowed to be part of the system unless you obtain the certificate of accreditation, and this guarantees an advanced level of service.”

A spokesman for the Ministry of Health pointed out that one of the most prominent of what the law came is is to enable the citizen to choose a place to receive health service within the approved institutions within the system, noting: “The law stipulates the right of the citizen to choose the facility in which he receives treatment from among the approved service providers, which enhances his confidence and makes his health experience more respectful for his dignity.”
