Alan Favi, the new CEO of Peugeot, has brought Bushra Sarah to the company’s customers all over the world, as he revealed that he was studying the return of 208 GTi to life as an electric car, after the car won wide fame for many before the decision to stop it.
Peugeot restores this car again
The new CEO, in press statements, indicated that he asked the same question regarding the return of the famous 208 GTI car, since he took office to succeed Jackson in the framework of reorganizing the Stelliantes administration.
The reports stated that the GTI brand has not appeared on the 208th car since the second generation in 2019, and it disappeared from Peugeot cars after the production of 308 GTI stopped in 2021, while the Peugeot Engineered (PSE) was believed to be the alternative, but it was limited to 508 PSE that stopped selling in the United Kingdom in 2023.
Return 208 GTI in an electric shape
“The company will not rule out any option regarding the future of the brand, including the return of the GTI badge”, stressing his keenness to benefit from the ancient Peugeot heritage and its merge with the requirements of the modern market.
Specifications 208 GTI
In the case of the development of the E-208 GTI, it is expected to rely on the same settings used in Lancia Ypsilon HF and Abart 600E, all of which are subscribed to the E-CMP platform, which means that it will be with a 237-horsepower engine, an front-wheel drive system, as well as a limited Torsen slip, which makes it a sports electric car with distinction.
Reports indicated that Peugeot is still in the review phase, but the step of reviving the car 208 GTI, as an electric car, may be a smart step in light of the global shift towards environmentally friendly cars.
