The neutrality law entered into force in 2005, and it prohibits state employees to wear religious or ideological symbols visible.

However, the state of Berlin was not submitted to the matter and filed a complaint with the Federal Constitutional Court, which in turn rejected the lawsuit in 2023.

The opponent of “liberal and varied society”

“The concept of school peace is vague, it may suffice for colleagues to say they see school peace threatening, or that the new school administration will cancel the previous decisions,” Tuba Bozkrart, a spokeswoman for the Green Party to combat discrimination in the Parliament of Berlin State.

This creates a state of uncertainty between parameters.

“In fact, nothing has changed,” she says, and she adds, “There are also trainee teachers who wear the veil while they are not sure that they can be employed after completing the training period.”

For this reason, the entire law must be canceled, according to her opinion.

The Green Party justifies its proposal that this law contradicts the “liberal and varied society” and leads to the exacerbation of the deficiency in skilled workers.
