A study conducted by researchers from the Virginia University of Technology revealed that some highly processed foods and drinks can cause cognitive impairment and increase the likelihood of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

The researchers used data from the University of Michigan Health and Retirement Study to track cognitive changes in 4750 Americans (55 years and older) over 7 years, where the participants were evaluated periodically every year between 2014 and 2020.

People can modify their dietary habits through moderation and balance to protect the brain.

Also, the consumption of fast food is widespread, with processed foods accounting for 65% of American household customers, and beverages 38%, in 2020.

These products are characterized by advanced industrial processing and contain flavorings and flavors, and are relied on so much that many young people and the elderly get more than half of their daily calories from them.
