The General Authority for Health Care announced the end of the “Choose and Secure” initiative that it launched to ensure the health of citizens during their participation in the 2025 Majlis al-Shiyukh elections, in the provinces implementing the comprehensive health insurance system, namely Port Said, Luxor, Ismailia, South Sinai, Aswan, and Switzerland, at the same time as the end of voting days in electoral eligibility.
The authority confirmed that the initiative succeeded in providing more than 37,000 medical and therapeutic services in the vicinity and in front of the election headquarters throughout the voting day, and these services included conducting medical examinations, measuring vital signs, monitoring chronic illnesses, and providing first aid and rapid intervention in emergency situations, through fixed medical points and mobile medical teams deployed extensively in polling locations to ensure a healthy electoral process.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki, head of the General Authority for Health Care, pointed out that the authority paid 333 mobile medical teams to cover the electoral area of the comprehensive health insurance in the governorates, they were distributed according to the nature of each governorate. And 15 groups in South Sinai, pointing out that these groups work to provide screening, follow-up and first aid services on a timely basis with a clear priority for the elderly and those with chronic diseases and those with special needs, to ensure the highest levels of health security for voters.
Al-Sabki explained that the initiative relied on a comprehensive support system, including raising the maximum level of readiness within 285 centers and family medicine units, and 43 hospitals affiliated to Allah in the provinces, which are facilities that are prepared in advance to receive emergency cases from the Electoral Commission in the event of an emergency and to ensure the continuity of quality and efficient health care throughout the voting period.
He added that the authority made sure to operate the central emergency room and ambulance throughout the voting days, around the clock, along with the subsidiary rooms in all the branches of the authority in all governorates, to ensure the speed of field follow-up and immediate response to any health emergency, in full coordination with the Egyptian Ambulance Service, which was a strategic partner in the implementation of the rapid referral plan and the transfer of emergency cases to the nearest equipped hospital.
In this regard, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki confirmed that what was achieved through the “Choose and Trust” initiative represents a practical model for field medical care, and reflects the body’s readiness and ability to cover all national locations with emergency health services and integrated infrastructure, pointing out that what has been implemented reflects the ability of the General Health Care Authority to support any national event, with its qualified human resources, highly efficient operation system, and well-thought-out plans.
And he added: that the authority sees the initiative as one of the tools to strengthen citizens’ confidence in the comprehensive health insurance system, and that it reflects the philosophy of work within the authority, which is based on reaching the citizen in its place, and guaranteeing health safety at all times and places, confirming that the authority will continue to implement this model in various national activities and events, believing that health is not separated from community participation, and providing the citizen medically is a firm priority in all strategies.
