Demi Moore’s Sci-Fi Film Gets First Look & 2026 Release Date

Demi Moore’s sci-fi movie, I Love Boostersreceives a first-look image and a holiday 2026 release date. Moore recently starred in the sci-fi body horror film The Substance (2024), which was a massive success that earned five Oscar nominations, including her first for Best Actress.

Now, NEON has revealed the first look at I Love Boosterswhich releases in theaters on May 22, 2026, over Memorial Day weekend. However, the mustard-colored image does not feature Demi Moore, and instead shows Naomi Ackie, Taylor Paige, and Keke Palmer in the upcoming sci-fi film. See the first-look image below:

Written and directed by Boots Riley, who made his debut with 2018’s Sorry to bother you, I Love Boosters follows a crew of female shoplifters who make their living stealing clothes from high-end department stores, but when they set their sights on the CEO of a luxury fashion brand, they set off an unexpected uprising in the process.

Its star-studded cast includes Oscar nominee Demi Moore (The Substance), Emmy winner Keke Palmer (Password), Oscar nominee LaKeith Stanfield (Judas and the Black Messiah), who also starred in Sorry to bother youBAFTA winner Naomi Ackie (The End of the F***ing World), Eiza González, Poppy Liu, Taylor Paige (Zola), and two-time Emmy nominee Will Poulter (The Bear, Dopesick).

The image’s dreamlike quality, complete with its bold mustard-colored aesthetic, is indicative of Boots Riley’s style – vibrant, surreal, and strikingly stylized. I Love Boosters‘ release date suggests it could premiere months earlier at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, where Boots Riley’s 2018 debut, Sorry to bother youattracted attention with its anarchic critique of corporate America.

f I Love Boosters bypasses Sundance, it could still premiere at festivals SXSW or Cannes, although its release date lines up closely with the latter, and it’s easy to imagine Boots Riley’s work fitting in with the festival’s Un Certain Regard section, which presents films with unusual styles and non-traditional stories.

Sorry to bother you established Boots Riley as a singular creative voice, and now, seven years later, he’s finally back with another film. However, he hasn’t been idle since then, as two years ago, he directed the acclaimed Amazon series I’m A Virgo (2023), another blend of surreal imagery and sharp social commentary.

Boots Riley, a self-identified communist activist, has long woven anti-capitalist ideas into his art, mainly his movies, but also his music as lead vocalist of The Coup and Street Sweeper Social Club. It’s unlikely that I Love Boosters will stray far from those same radical and thought-provoking themes that have defined Boots Riley’s work across film, television, and music.
