‘Freaky’ horror film with a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score you can stream for free

Late Night with the Devil, a found footage horror film, was released in cinemas last year and has since been made available to stream at home

A ‘wild and freaky’ horror film that bagged a near perfect Rotten Tomatoes score upon its release last year is now earning rave reviews as fans realize it’s available for home streaming.

Late Night with the Devil, which hits the big screens in 2023, offers a fresh take on the found footage horror genre. The bulk of the film presents what appears to be a recording of a live US talk show broadcast from 1977.

The movie is interspersed with black and white snippets showing behind-the-scenes interactions between host Jack Delroy, portrayed by David Dastmalchian, his producers, and guests. One such guest is a young girl supposedly possessed by an otherworldly spirit.

According to the film’s synopsis, Johnny Carson’s rival, Jack Delroy, hosts a syndicated talk show ‘Night Owls’, a long-time favorite among insomniacs nationwide.

However, following the tragic death of Jack’s beloved wife, the show’s ratings have taken a nosedive. In a desperate bid to revive his fortunes, Jack plans an unprecedented Halloween special on October 31st, 1977, oblivious to the fact that he’s about to unleash evil into American living rooms, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Late Night with the Devil boasts a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes, with a whopping 97% rating on the site.

Fans can even stream the film for free by taking advantage of a 7-day free trial on the horror-specialist platform Shudder, which is available as an add-on subscription via Amazon Prime video.

The release on streaming platforms means a new wave of movie buffs can now savor the highly acclaimed flick. One thrilled viewer took to social media, exclaiming: “What a wild, freaky night at the movies.”

Another recent convert to the film’s growing fanbase penned their thoughts online, predicting its future status as an iconic film.
