‘I’m best friends with my ex-husband’s new wife – we’re so close we wax each other’

Haley Neill and Morgan Braswell, who have both been romantically involved with the same man, had every reason not to get on – but they’re best friends and even wax each other

A mum has struck up an incredible friendship with her ex-husband’s new wife, and they’re so close that they even help each other with waxing. Haley Neill, 35, was married to Josh Braswell, 37, for six years before they decided to part ways amicably.

The pair, who share three children – Brody, 15, Brylee, 13, and Brantlee, 9 – were committed to co-parenting effectively. When Josh met Morgan Braswell, 31, later on, Haley welcomed the new woman into their extended family with open arms.

Morgan and Josh have been married for eight years now and have three children of their own – Brooks, 7, Brady, 6, and Briar, 4. Haley, who has remarried to Jason, 44, grew closer to Morgan after she became a mother herself and now counts her as one of her best friends.

They spend time together with their children, discuss everything under the sun, and Morgan even helps Haley with her waxing. People often remark on how similar Haley and Morgan look, suggesting Josh has a specific “type”.

Haley, who works as a brand manager at a bank in Magnolia, Arkansas, US, shared: “It’s rare for us to go a day without seeing each other.

“I talk to her more than any of my friends. We have so much in common. She waxes me – that’s how comfortable we are.”

Morgan, who is a teacher, added: “We’ll talk about anything. We talk about problems – anything. People flip out because we look alike.

“It makes it fun – everyone says he has a type.”

When Haley and Josh, a loader at a refinery, separated in June 2014 she was determined to be a “healthy blended family” after coming from a split family herself.

Haley said: “That’s my main motivation. My parents won’t be in the same room. We were meant to be friends.

“We got pregnant and rushed to get married. When we separated we became friends again.”

Morgan entered the picture in November 2014 when she connected with Josh through Snapchat, having been friends with his cousin. Morgan recalled, “He Snapchatted me and thought I was cute.

“After the first time I hung out with him I left for Disneyland and he said ‘we’re going to take the kids there one day’.”

The chemistry between Morgan and Josh was undeniable, and Haley welcomed Morgan with open arms.

Haley said: “It wasn’t like I still wanted the marriage. She didn’t split up our marriage. We never disliked each other.”

Morgan added: “I was the other woman in her kids’ life. I gave her props. I took her youngest daughter to get her ears pierced and she didn’t care.”

She even joked, “Step-mums dream of this.”

The bond between the two women grew stronger five years ago when Morgan’s eldest child, Brooks, was just a toddler. Haley noticed a change, saying, “When she became a mum there was something different. I feel like she understood me.”

“We had this connection. I started to be more comfortable with her.

“It was a really cool experience for me – my kids had a sibling. It was cool for me to see how much my kids loved their sibling.”

Now the pals are inseparable, living a mere 0.8 miles apart and spending most days together. They share workouts, pool time, and family holidays, even rocking similar fashion choices.

Morgan revealed: “We have the same style. We’ve shown up in the same clothes before.

“We’re both a little crazy. We make a good match. Haley is a people pleaser and I’m going to say the things she’s not going to say.”

Haley found love with her salesman hubby Jason in September 2018, and now their families often enjoy outings together, like attending ball games. Although they don’t spend Christmas together due to Haley’s family being dotted all over the States, they still celebrate the festive season as one big happy unit.

Haley expressed her desire for a harmonious blended family: “I wanted them (the kids) to have a healthy blended family.

“I wanted them to see that you can all get along.

“Years ago I was on the phone to Morgan and Brody said ‘are you best friends?’. At the time I said ‘no we’re just friends’. But now we’re best friends.”

Both women cherish the extra parental support they provide each other’s children. Morgan feels like a “bonus mum” to Haley’s kids, while Haley sees Morgan as more than a friend: “Morgan is like a sister. Josh and I never got along well. We were just waiting for Morgan.”
