This came during a recorded speech, delivered at the opening of the activities of the local youth conference on climate change, which was held under the auspices of the Alexandria Library, and organized by the Mediterranean Youth Foundation in cooperation with a number of international partners, where the conference is held in 110 countries in parallel in the presence of a number of important government, field and international figures, in the framework of the youth’s ability to draw local and international climate policies, where it is implemented for the first time under the leadership of the civil society and in partnership with the private sector.
“Farooq” pointed out that the ministry is working on the implementation of smart agriculture technologies, limiting harmful emissions, and adapting to climate change through the development of sustainable agriculture methods, and promoting the use of modern technologies in irrigation and agriculture.
And the minister stressed the importance of highlighting the environmental challenges that affect the agricultural sector in particular, which is the main pillar of food security in Egypt, stressing that the role of youth and young women in this context is pivotal, and this is not the whole story, but we actually see it in their creativity in the fields of technology and others.
The Minister of Agriculture expressed his hope in encouraging youth and young women to actively participate in environmental issues, and to promote awareness of the importance of protecting natural resources to ensure the sustainability of life on our planet, calling on all youth and young women to interact responsibly to contribute to sustainable solutions for the present and future.

The Minister of Agriculture’s adviser confirmed that this inspiring and lively event brings together a select group of young people who are ambitious and aware of climate and development issues, and brings together young people’s energies and creative ideas and common interest in protecting our planet and ensuring a more stable and just future for future generations.
He added that the issue of climate change is not only an environmental issue, but has become a development challenge that affects all sectors, and at the head of it is the agricultural sector, which is one of the sectors most affected by climate change, and at the same time, the agricultural sector is one of the sectors most capable of making a positive difference, in short, the agricultural sector is a key pillar of the national economy, and one of the most important sectors related to food security, livelihoods and rural development.
He explained that, despite this, he has faced major challenges in recent years as a result of the negative effects of climate change, from rising temperatures, changing rainfall patterns, increasing drought and salinity rates, increasing the severity of extreme weather events and rising sea levels, which affects the quality and efficiency of agricultural land in the north of the delta, which directly affects crop production and the stability of agricultural communities, especially the most vulnerable groups such as small farmers, women and children.
He said that the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reform fully understands the magnitude of this challenge and puts facing the effects of climate change at the top of its priorities, as it works hard to expand the use of modern agricultural technologies and climate-smart farming practices, and encourage the expansion of the use of technology and modern agricultural machinery, adopt water-guided irrigation methods, improve natural resource management, and cooperate with state institutions, the private sector, and civil society to strengthen the resilience of rural communities and develop sustainable livelihoods, as well as supporting small farmers, especially The women and the youth, to be in the heart of the climate action.
The advisor to the Minister of Agriculture confirmed that the youth are the real power and the ability to innovate, influence and connect knowledge and action on the ground, stressing the need to support youth initiatives in the field of sustainable agriculture and environmental work, as well as their participation in training programs, national projects and development initiatives to build the agricultural sector to be able to adapt to climate change and serve the goals of sustainable development and the ability to empower youth to play an active role in the setting and implementation of climate policies.
Al-Musailhi pointed out that the importance of this conference comes as a local youth platform that has international influence, it strengthens the youth’s role in facing these challenges and opens the door to effective participation in policy formulation and solutions on the national and international level.
He emphasized that the young people do not only represent the future, but also the partners of today, and their voices are important, and their innovative initiatives and solutions are appreciated and appreciated, finally, that we do not have the luxury of waiting, as climate change requires us to move quickly, cooperate closely, and work with the spirit of one team, and that there is a need to continue working for a green earth, protected resources, and resilient communities.

The conference program included a discussion session on the challenges of climate change in Egypt, led by Dr. Yusuf Wardani, with the participation of a select group of experts and specialists in the fields of climate policies, sustainable development, agriculture, and the green economy, including: Dr. Mohamed Hassan Ffilal, Director of the General Administration for Climate Change Risk Studies – Center for Information and Decision Support under the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and Dr. Fazl Hashem, Executive Director of the Center for Climate Change Information at the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reform, Dr. Riham Abdel Hamid; Manager of the Sustainable Development Studies Program at the Alexandria Library.
The Executive Director of the Climate Change Information Center at the Ministry of Agriculture presented the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and its research centers in the field of climate change, and the reduction of its negative effects, on the agricultural sector in terms of plants and animals, with the aim of protecting farmers and breeders, especially the small ones, as well as protecting the plant and animal wealth in Egypt, as well as the important roles played by youth and civil society institutions in this matter.
