The head of the Health Care Authority meets the head of the Board of Trustees of the “Protection of the Earth” Foundation to discuss mutual cooperation

Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Health Care Authority, met with Dr. Muhammad Ziada, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Earth Protection Foundation, to discuss joint cooperation and the launch of the “Earth Protection” competition in the health sector, scheduled to be held during the annual meeting of the body in November.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki explained that the competition is aimed at all hospitals that exceed the capacity of 40 beds from various sectors, whether governmental, private or private, so that it reflects the inclusiveness of the initiative and its impact.

The head of the Health Care Authority confirmed that the goal of the award is to encourage health facilities to incorporate sustainability standards into their daily practices, in line with Egypt’s 2030 vision for sustainable development, in short, that the competition is based on eight main goals, including: encouraging health facilities to incorporate sustainability into their daily activities, strengthening the role of health care in achieving development goals, developing a safe and productive work environment, encouraging innovation in resource management, and strengthening the culture of self-evaluation, along with the commitment بالتشريعات عنونيون ومتعديل في سماعة عرض المزيد, وخلق بيثة تنافظية بين المصنعة تعزيز التعميز المستحسي.

In the same context, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki pointed out that the jury that will evaluate the competitions will be made up of local and international experts to ensure transparency and impartiality, pointing out that the competition will be sponsored by a number of ministries headed by health and population, local development, social solidarity, education, and higher education, reflecting the integration of state institutions to support health sustainability.

He added that the Health Care Authority has a distinguished reputation in this area, as it previously won the Gold Award from the International Hospital Federation (IHF) for 2024 in the category “Excellence in Social and Environmental Responsibility”, in recognition of its efforts in integrating sustainability and environmental protection standards into its strategies and services, affirming that this international award represents global recognition of the Egyptian experience, and an incentive to continue expanding this path through initiatives such as “درع حماة عرض”.

On the other hand, Dr. Mohamed Ziada, President of the Security Council of the “Protection of the Earth” Foundation, explained that the most important thing that distinguishes this competition is that it aims to promote public health through the transformation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals into clear and measurable goals. He said: “What distinguishes this competition is its ability to provide precise and targeted indicators that are closely related to the health sector, which enhances the effectiveness of sustainable health strategies in facilities”, and added: the evaluation criteria in the competition are based on 17 main indicators derived from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with social, economic and environmental dimensions.

The President of the Security Council for the Protection of the Earth said: “We strive to promote justice and inclusiveness in health care, and at the same time, we focus on developing training programs to empower our leaders.”

And in relation to the environmental aspect, the doctor explained that the competition focuses on the management of medical and hazardous waste and the implementation of sustainable environmental management, saying: “We strive to operate green systems and strengthen reliance on renewable energy sources, in addition to the implementation of sustainable transport systems, integrated waste management, and rational use of water and recycling.”

Dr. Ziadea said: “This competition represents an important step toward achieving a better and more sustainable future for everyone, and it reflects our deep belief in public health issues and sustainability, and its great importance to the health of Egyptians and their lives.”

This meeting was witnessed by the participation of Dr. Riham Farouq, General Secretary of the Earth Protection Foundation, and Dr. Jamal Ritbah, the Chief Advisor of the Authority for Actuarial and Financial Studies and the Head of the Central Administration for Institutional Support Services, and Dr. Riham Al-Shanawi, Director General of the General Administration for International Cooperation, and Dr. Maha Saeed, Director of the Health Care Unit of the Authority.
