In a unique event, a rare and well-preserved bird’s feather is being sold at auction in New Zealand for 46,000 New Zealand dollars (about $28,365), officially the world’s most expensive feather.
تعير الهويا, who was living in New Zealand, borrowed from the early 19th century. And the hair was rare even at the time of the arrival of the Europeans to the island, which led to its complete disappearance.
While it was expected to sell for only $3,000, the estimated price was lowered to $28,365 at the auction held last year.
Lia Morris, head of the decorative arts department at the auction house, said to Al-Ghardian newspaper:
The most interesting thing is that the most expensive hair in the world does not exceed the weight of only 9 grams, that is, its price is equivalent to several times less than the weight of gold.
