Yona of the Dawn Manga Announces Official End Date

While it has enjoyed a stellar 16-year run as one of shojo manga’s brightest gems, Yona of the Dawn is on the cusp of its ending, with its final chapter releasing on December 19, 2025. The series has enjoyed a stellar run with over 15 million copies sold to date, but now it appears to be over.

Confirmed via Hana to Yume and author Mizuho Kusanagi on their respective X handles, the next three chapters will conclude Yona of the Dawn’s manga run. While there is still significant demand for a season 2 for the Pierrot anime adaptation, the remaining story is about to conclude, shocking fans hoping the final arc would carry on a bit longer.

Yona of the Dawn Is Ending in December 2025

Yona of the Dawn initially entered its final arc back in June 2024, but there wasn’t as much indication as fans hoped that the end was near. The series’ most recent hiatus between July and October 2025, in retrospect, was perhaps intended to set up this grand finale. While apparently hasty, the next chapters could tie off remaining loose ends.

Kusanagi confirms as such with her recent post on October 30, 2025, discussing how the decision kept fans waiting until the last moment when this announcement landed. It’s the most recent in a line of confirmations that major manga are ending, signaling more than ever that a new era is taking over.

“The reason it ended up as a notice with only three times left is because I caught everyone waiting until the very last minute to decide when to land. I’m truly grateful to all the editorial team members who accommodated my pace!”

-Mizuho Kusanagi

While Yona of the Dawn fans were perhaps not ready for this sudden conclusion, they can only look forward for now. Hak’s stubborn consciousness persists despite being apparently dead, refusing to back down from his promise to stay by Yona’s side. The fates of Yona’s allies remain ambiguous as of chapter #273. Clearly, the last three chapters are packed, content-wise.

While other Hakusensha mainstays like Berserk are slowly trudging out their latest chapters, Yona of the Dawn joins other recent hit manga as they bow out. Black Clover is ending Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia have ended, and in the shojo/josei realm, Nana’s hiatus still cuts deep. But there are plenty of new-gen hits to chew on, still.

For shonen fans, Gachiakuta, Dandadan, Ichi the Witch, and Kagurabachi lead the charge courtesy of Kodansha and Shueisha, while Shogakukan’s Frieren continues to dazzle readers. For show fans, A Sign of Affection and Snow White with the Red Hair keeps burning bright, with Hakusensha’s Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite being a delightful new-gen hit from Kamisama Kiss’s creator.

The point being, there is plenty to enjoy even with the acclaimed Yona of the Dawn ending, without even diving into the offerings of seinen and josei manga. Admittedly, none quite hit like Yona. While its continuously absent confirmation of a season 2 is infuriating, Pierrot’s new approach to production makes it a more palatable wait.

Yona of the Dawn’s final chapter will release on December 19, 2025.
