Although we’ll be checking out of The White Lotus in Thailand on April 6, rest assured that another season is already confirmed to be on the way. HBO renewed Mike White’s dramedy for a fourth season back in January, before season three even premiered. So where is it the next slaycation destination? Which new or returning cast members will be packing theirs Lorazepam bags? And when can we expect the next season to arrive? Unfortunately, much like Victoria Ratliff when it comes to the names of different people Asian countriesthere’s a lot that we don’t know. Still, some details, hints, and rumors have already slipped through the cracks. Here, everything we know about The White Lotus season four so far.
Although a new destination has not been officially announced yet, several potential places have been thrown around by those involved in the show. for DeadlineWhite said in 2023 that his “dream” would be for The White Lotus to “hit every continent,” meaning that the show would “kind of have to come to Australia” at some point. (It’s worth noting that White made that remark while speaking at a festival in Sydney, Australia, where it might’ve been a little awkward to tell the audience that he’d never bring the show there. Still, he did point to the “wealth of talent” in the land down under, adding, “The beauty is inarguable, so it feels like it checks all the boxes.”)
More recently, HBO exec Francesca Orsi told Deadline at the show’s season-three premiere afterparty on February 10 that the show would still be doing location scouting over the next couple of weeks. “I can’t really say where we’re going to land,” Orsi said, “but chances are somewhere in Europe.” If that’s true, we might be able to rule at least one country out already: Norwegian outlet Bergens Tidende previously claimed that The White Lotus was offered around $8 million to shoot in Norway, but Campaign reported on February 14 that the show’s team turned the money down in favor of another option.
White has acknowledged that The Hollywood Reporter that the decision of where to film can be “hugely impactful” to the locale, which is why he felt that it was “so cool” to shoot in Thailand. “It’s hard to go backwards. Like, ‘Oh, we’ll do it in Paris!’ That feels like a cop-out,” he said, before hedging that he is “not a cultural ambassador” and needs to focus on what excites him creatively rather than getting “too far ahead of myself.”
Meanwhile, White Lotus producer David Bernad implied during a February 26 episode of The Bill Simmons Podcast that viewers should expect the setting to be in a country with a warm climate. “Mike doesn’t like the cold… he’s a California guy, he’s not built for the cold,” Bernad said. “Never say never, but I would be surprised.” Well, if White really wants to fulfill his every-continent goal, he’ll have to tough it out when it’s time to go to Antarctica, won’t he? For now, though, this seems like a pretty depressing hint for anyone who was hoping for a ski-resort season.
If we’re following the pattern so far, we can expect a bunch of rich people to check into a resort for a vacation that turns deadly for at least one guest. But technically, no full details for season four have been confirmed yet, so no one knows for sure — except maybe White and a few execs. (Per VarietyHBO and Max chief Casey Bloys has said that White was already pitching ideas for season four as far back as November 2024.)
We don’t know yet. But some cast members have returned before: Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya appeared in seasons one and two, Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda appeared in seasons one and three, and Jon Gries’s Greg/Gary has appeared in all three seasons to date. Rothwell previously joked on Good Morning America in March that she’d return to The White Lotus“if I survive this season.” But perhaps viewers can dream a little bigger than just one or two familiar faces? Patrick Schwarzenegger, who plays Saxon, told The Hollywood Reporter in April that he heard rumors of an “all-stars season” that would bring a bunch of former White Lotus guests together. White told THR that he would “love to do that.” Hey, if he’s serious, we already have a list of which cast combinations we’d like to see.
No premiere date has been confirmed. However, Variety did report in January that production was being “eyed” for 2026. If that’s the case, it seems possible that we might not get new episodes until late 2026 or 2027 — but with no official filming schedule set, it’s hard to say for sure.
It might sound a little different. Composer Cristóbal Tapia de Veer pointed to creative differences with White over the season-three tune when he recently confirmed to the New York Times that he will not be returning for season four. It’s not clear who will replace Tapia de Veer or what sonic direction they’ll go in — but just in case, you might want to prepare yourself to say toodle-oo to the ooh-loo-loos.
