The General Authority for Hospitals and Educational Institutions celebrated today, Sunday, August 3, the launch of the World Nutrition Week, as part of the National Authority for Nutrition.
It emphasizes the importance of breastfeeding as an essential element for the health of the mother and child, and supports the efforts of the state to promote health.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mustafa Abd al-Ghafar, head of the body, emphasized that breastfeeding is the first line of defense to protect the child from diseases and promote the health of the mother and society, and represents a real benefit to human health over the lifespan, as well as its positive psychological and social effects. He also added that the promotion of breastfeeding culture is among the strategic priorities of the Ministry of Health and Population in the National Strategic Plan (2024 – 2030), where it was included among the first priorities related to raising the level of health care to improve Indicators of the health of the child and the mother, and based on this deep awareness of the body about the importance of breastfeeding, it was included as the main focus of the executive plan of the body for the year 2024 / 2025, and in this context, the body achieved achievements in promoting the culture of breastfeeding, where the Committee for Breastfeeding and Complementary Nutrition was established by Resolution No. In cooperation with the World Health Organization, a 40-hour training course was conducted for the medical staff (doctors and nurses) in the units of the organization, and a new training course will also be held at the beginning of next September, as well as the opening of six breastfeeding clinics in the units of the organization in hospitals Ahmed Maher – Al-Jalaa – Damanhour – Al-Matriya – Sahel, and the national institute for nutrition and testing for an average of 350 urban cases during the period from 2021 to 2021 2024, وجارى التعالى لفتتاح عيادات الفولاء هذا نتذج 10 وحدات بالمحافظات المختلفة بمستشفيات الحرار التحميلى, شبين الكوم التحميلى, بنها التحميلى, وسوهاج التحميلى.

In addition, three researches were published in the years 2022, 2023, 2024 by researchers at the National Institute of Nutrition, specializing in pediatrics, dealing with the relationship between breastfeeding and type 1 diabetes in children, the psychological effects of breastfeeding on infants, complementary feeding and breastfeeding.
The head of the body thanked the professors and nutrition specialists of the institute for their diligent efforts in the various nutrition fields, and asked them for more research and training, since the institute is the only party concerned with this, and this is in line with the decision to establish the body and its strategic plan.

Dr. Aliaa Hafez, Director of the World Food Program, emphasized the efforts made to promote breastfeeding, and emphasized its vital role in reducing the rates of deaths and diseases among children, as breastfeeding is the first line of defense against many diseases, plays a pivotal role in strengthening immunity, and represents a strong emotional bond between mother and child, and the World Food Program works to integrate breastfeeding support programs into all health strategies, to ensure that every child has this basic right to nutrition. الصليمة
