The change from Scream 6 them Scream 7 is pretty drastic. New directors, new cast members, what’s even coming back? It’s Ghostface and his arch nemesis, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), that’s who. In the first official trailer for Scream 7Ghostface finds a new victim, Prescott’s daughter Tatum, just as they’ve built a new life away from Woodsboro. Prescott won’t be fighting him alone; Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) is joining her to put an end to Ghostface. “Let’s unmask this fucker,” Weathers tells her. Other familiar faces include David Arquette and Matthew Lillard. Tatum eventually comes face-to-face with the killer, just as he’s setting the house on fire. “I’m going to burn it all down,” he exclaims.
This is the first look at Scream 7 after years of drama behind the scenes. Actress Melissa Barrera was fired from her role as Sam Carpenter in November 2023 for her pro-Palestinian posts. Jenna Ortega, who played her sister Tara, left shortly after and later revealed that, due to casting and director changes, she no longer wanted to be part of the film. Christopher Landon also left his role as director once Barrera was fired.
Scream 7 comes to theaters on February 27, 2026.
