The central bank will hold a meeting of the monetary policy committee, today Thursday in the second meeting of the current year, while the committee decided in the first meeting of the previous February, the interest rates will be set at 27.25% for deposits and 28.25% for loans.
And it was decided by the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Egypt in its last meeting, setting the rate of deposit and loan for one night at 27.25%, 28.25% respectively.
The monetary policy committee will hold a series of meetings during 2025, as follows:
Second meeting: Thursday, April 17, 2025.
The third meeting: Thursday, May 22, 2025.
The fourth meeting: Thursday, July 10, 2025.
Fifth meeting: Thursday, August 28, 2025.
The sixth meeting: Thursday, October 2, 2025.
And the Central Bank of Egypt announced that the total contributions of the banking sector to community projects in 2024 amounted to approximately 3.9 billion pounds in the sectors of health, social care, development projects, development of slums, women’s empowerment, education, and many other service sectors that promote community development.
The bank explained that this comes from the belief that it will support the most needy groups, and it will confirm the leader’s position in promoting the contributions of the banking sector to the community’s responsibility projects.
He added that the health sector took the largest share of those contributions, in fact about 2.5 billion pounds, while the social care sector took about 447 million pounds, and about 178 million pounds were allocated to development projects and the development of slums, and 149 million pounds to empower women, in addition to allocating about 136 million pounds to empowering those with disabilities, and 110 million pounds to education projects.
As a continuation of their role in achieving community development, the banks allocated about 100 million pounds to support small and medium-sized businesses and projects, and 22 million pounds to projects in the sports, arts and culture sector, and 18 million pounds to participate in national initiatives, in addition to sponsoring the health and population conference, and allocated about 153 million pounds to various projects in many service sectors.
And follow the central bank that the banking sector will continue its efforts to support the most deserving groups and improve society, because of the desire to enhance integration with the state’s efforts to achieve sustainable development, and improve the standard of living of citizens in all provinces.
