During the third quarter of this year, the world witnessed an unprecedented increase in the sales of pure electric cars, according to an analysis carried out by the economic consulting company “Brace Waterhouse Coopers” in 40 major markets, representing a total of about 85% of global car sales.
The analysis showed that the share of sales of pure electric cars among the total number of new cars reached about 21% in the third quarter of this year, an increase of two percentage points compared to the second quarter, which is the highest level recorded so far.
According to the analysis, 6-3 million pure electric cars were sold in the third quarter, an increase of nearly a third compared to the previous year. As for the total sales of cars of all types of engines, they amount to 4-17 million cars, of which 7-1 million hybrid cars can be charged externally and 5-2 million traditional hybrid cars.
China still has the biggest electric car market, with 3.2 million electric cars sold in the third quarter, which is an increase of more than a third compared to the previous year. By 2035, “Brace Waterhouse Coopers” expect the share of electric cars to reach 32% of total vehicles in Europe, 40% in China, and 10% in the United States.
Al-Kheir in “Brace Waterhouse Coopers”, Harald Feimer said: “Electric cars are constantly becoming better, more attractive and less expensive”, adding that it is likely that by 2035, the transition to electric cars will become a natural order for the majority of drivers, pointing out that combustion engines will remain only for lovers of this type of car and for specialized use.
