Streaming is getting more complicated by the day. With dozens of services out there, the war for content never ends, and it seems Crunchyroll is the latest brand to get heat over their catalog. The streamer is the world’s go-to destination for all things anime, but several popular titles are now missing from its catalog. In the wake of Claymore‘s controversial exit from the site, two more have joined the ranks, including a contender for 2015’s most underrated series.

91 Days & Death Parade Are Both Underrated Gems
If you are not familiar with either of these titles, it will be a lot more difficult to catch up with them now. While neither of the shows are blockbusters, the top-rated entries are certainly worth a watch. From criminal drama to psychological horror, the missing Crunchyroll titles are easy ones to recommend to netizens.
For those curious about 91 Daysthe anime went live under the studio Shuka in July 2016. The drama is set in the United States, marking a rare departure from fantasy as the anime brings historical crime to life. The show is set in the final days of Prohibition as a man named Angelo Lagusa seeks revenge against the Italian mafia for killing his family. The gang, which thrives in the US with all its illegal liquor, hardly sees Angelo as a threat. But when he manages to infiltrate the mafia under a new name, the anime takes audiences on a thrilling ride of revenge.
Not even Death Paradethe TV series was released in early 2015 under the guidance of Madhouse. The show, which first began as a short film, is a supernatural one set in the afterlife. In the series, after a person dies, they awaken in a liminal bar overseen by mysterious bartenders who manage heaven (and hell). In these bars, the dead must compete in Death Games with their souls put on the line. As Death Parade starts, fans are introduced to one of the afterlife’s bartenders, Decim, as he and his assistant learn more about the fate they’ve been dealt.
Crunchyroll’s Recent Cuts Hurt Anime Fans
As you can imagine, the loss of any content from streaming is a blow, but these two exits are particularly rough. 91 Days and Death Parade are niche titles that general streaming services like HBO Max and Netflix often overlook. Given Crunchyroll’s focus on anime, the site has the bandwidth for such titles, but these two shows did not make the cut.
The loss is a blow, and it is not the first to hit anime fans in October. Days ago, reports surfaced that Claymore was quietly removed from Crunchyroll. The series, created by Norihiro Yagi, debuted as a manga in 2001 before Madhouse adapted the story into an anime. The show debuted in April 2007 to critical acclaim, and the dark fantasy remains a classic to many fans today. Claymore‘s sudden removal from Crunchyroll was hardly expected by netizens, and sadly, the fandom is now down two additional titles ahead of the winter holidays.
