The 2025 World Series gets underway Friday in Toronto, where the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers with their lights-out pitching and a guy named Shohei take on the American League champs Toronto Blue Jays in their first Fall Classic appearance since winning back-to-back titles in 1992-1993.
How To Watch The World Series
Fox has US broadcast rights to the best-of-7 series, with live coverage of all games beginning at 7 pm ET/4 pm PT, with the first pitch for all games set for 8 pm ET/5 pm PT. The lead team of Joe Davis and Hall of Fame pitcher John Smoltz will call the games for Fox, with sideline reporters Ken Rosenthal and Tom Verducci also pitching in and Tom Rinaldi on feature duty. (Side note: Lead producer Pete Macheska is running his final World Series broadcast from the Fox production truck in his 22nd year.)
In addition to its broadcast network, Fox Sports will show the game in Spanish on Fox Deportes, with play-by-play announcer Adrian Garcia-Marquez, analyst and former MLB infielder Edgar Gonzalez, announcer/reporter Carlos Alvarez, reporter/analyst Jaime Motta and reporter Michelle Liendo.
It is also making the game available on the Fox Sports app and the new streaming service Fox One.
In addition, all series are available in the US on MLB.TV via authentication with a pay-TV provider. In Canada, Sportsnet has English-language broadcast rights, with TVA Sports covering the World Series in French.
On radio, ESPN Radio has English-language rights, with Jon “Boog” Sciambi on the call with Eduardo Pérez and Jessica Mendoza, and Buster Olney reporting. The audio will also be available on the ESPN app as well as SiriusXM 80. Univision Radio has Spanish-language rights.

What about the matchup?
The Dodgers, who beat the New York Yankees in last year’s World Series, awoke from a midseason slumber and are playing like a defending champ, sweeping away the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series with unmatched starting pitching and of course Shohei Ohtani, the reigning NL MVP whose latest feat in Game 4 of the NLCS was hitting three home runs while striking out 10 to clinch the pennant. This is the Dodgers’ fifth World Series appearance since 2017 (they won in the 2020 Covid year) under Dave Roberts.
The Blue Jays, the AL East division winners, scored home-field advantage for the World Series by virtue of winning one more game than the Dodgers during the regular season. They have stars in Vladimir Guerrero Jr and George Springer, but their MO has been timely hitting and a solid pitching core, much like the Toronto teams that won back-to-back championships in the early ’90s. They have not been back to the Fall Classic since.
What does Fox have planned?
The Fox MLB studio desk will kick off coverage each night with the team of Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, David Ortiz and anchor Kevin Burkhardt. They will also wrap up with analysis and interviews after the games.
As for the coverage, expect more UmpCam and Swing Tracker tech, as well as DirtCams and FlyCams. Fox Sports says it will deploy 20 operated cameras, 10 with high-speed capture, as well as multiple wireless RF/RF MOVI, ROBO and POV cameras. More than 50 microphones will be used including inside the bases.
