Nobody Wants This season 2 is winning over critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The Netflix romantic comedy series follows sex podcaster Joanne Williams (Kristen Bell) falling in love with rabbi Noah Roklov (Adam Brody). The Emmy-nominated season 1 became a critical and commercial hit in 2024, leading Nobody Wants This season 2 to follow just 13 months later, on October 23.
Rotten Tomatoes has now aggregated enough critics’ reviews of Nobody Wants This season 2 for it to earn an official score on the Tomatometer. While the score could fluctuate as more reviews are added, at the time of writing, eight critics have weighed in on the new season, giving it a solidly fresh score of 88%.
So far, season 2 only has one negative review, which gives it a mixed score of 2.5 out of 5 instead of hitting a severe low. Meanwhile, the season’s positive reviews range from middling (3 out of 5, B-) to perfect (4 out of 4), indicating that critics’ opinions on Nobody Wants This season 2 are trending positive.
While many critics feel that the season is repetitive and loses its vitality as it follows the couple emerging from their honeymoon phase, they generally agree that the show’s writing and comedic sensibility remain strongnor are the performances of the Nobody Wants This cast, which also includes Timothy Simons, Jackie Tohn, and Justine Lupe.
However, while season 2’s Rotten Tomatoes score is strong, it still can’t quite compare to season 1. The show’s debut season, which received 56 reviews, has a near-perfect Certified Fresh score of 95%.
Regardless, despite the score dipping from the beginning Nobody Wants This season 1 reviews, this is still a strong start for the new season. If it can maintain this level of critical enthusiasm as more reviews are added, the season’s overall reception will be able to hold its own.
It then remains to be seen if audiences have a similar reaction to critics. For season 1, audiences were cooler on the show than criticsgiving it a score of 85% on the Rotten Tomatoes Popcornmeter. If this trend holds true, the new season’s Popcornmeter score could fall to 78% in season 2.
However, that score is still 18% above the threshold past which a show can be considered Fresh, and could be enough for Nobody Wants This to continue its word of mouth success and potentially get renewed for season 3.
