Opening of the first training program from the project “Strengthening the capacity of communities and the food system”

The first training program of the project “Strengthening the capacity of the communities and the agricultural food system in Egypt on safety” was opened by Al-Lwaa Dr. Alaa Abd al-Mu’ati, the Protector of the Holy Sheikh, on Saturday, in the presence of the delegation of the Ministry, the project team of the United Nations Development Program, representatives of the Directorate of Agriculture, and a large number of farmers benefiting from the training program, as part of the cooperation between the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and International Cooperation; وبرنامج من المعلومة المحمدة الإنمائي UNDP, وبدعم من جابانيس غوبرة.

And in this frame; Dr. Rania Al-Mashait, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation; the importance of such training programs, which enhance the state’s efforts towards achieving the concept of comprehensive rural development, explaining that the implementation of this project comes in the framework of building the capacity of small farmers to face the effects of climate change through climate-smart agriculture solutions, which enhances food security, and supports agricultural communities in achieving sustainable agricultural production in the face of increasing environmental challenges.

“Al-Mashat” also emphasized the state’s interest in the agricultural sector in order to increase food security efforts and increase the export of agricultural products and the life cycle in the operation of the workforce, where the sector is among the most active sectors.

On his part, the custodian face of Kfar al-Sheikh, during his speech at the opening, expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning and Economic Development and International Cooperation, for her continuous efforts in supporting sustainable development projects in the governorate, in recognition of the fruitful cooperation with the United Nations Development Program in the implementation of this ambitious project.

The governor explained that the training program aims to train and raise the efficiency of 100 farmers and strengthen their ability to adapt to climate change, by supporting local agricultural food systems and developing the skills of agricultural workers, improving production quality, and training in the latest sustainable agricultural practices, natural resource management, and methods of distributing water consumption, enhancing food security in rural communities, and improving the standard of living of citizens, within the framework of the vision of Egypt 2030 and achieving the goals of sustainable development.

يُذكر that the program includes two training sessions, to train 100 people from farmers; The first one will be held during the period from 10 to 12 May, and the second will be held from 13 to 15 May 2025, with the participation of a large number of farmers from various centers of the governorate, in coordination between the governorate and the Directorate of Agriculture to ensure maximum benefit from the program.
