The British newspaper “Daily Mail” revealed the reason for the choice of the “Al-Lufr” museum for the islands and the money to escape from the French police.
The newspaper explained that the jewelers, who stole valuable gifts worth 88 million euros, tried to escape to Algeria and Mali for a specific reason.
According to what was published by the newspaper, two of them were arrested, ranging in construction around the three-year period, while they were trying to get back to the planes destined for the mentioned country. These developments are part of the ongoing investigation into the theft of rare jewelry from the Napoleon III art collection.
The reports pointed to the fact that the investigations revealed the possibility that one of the security elements in the museum was involved, as the British newspaper “Al-Telegraaf” reported that one of the museum guards might be the victim of a robbery that triggered one of the most famous museums in the world.
For their part, the public prosecutor in Paris, Lor Berko, who leads the investigation into the theft of Al-Louf Museum, was furious with the public disclosure of the suspects.
She said in a press statement, according to the British newspaper: “I strongly reject the hasty disclosure of this information before informed parties, without taking into account the needs of the investigation. This disclosure can only harm the investigative efforts of the investigator involved in the search for the stolen jewelry and all the criminals.”
Despite this, French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez wrote on the “إكس” platform: “I would like to express my sincere thanks to the investigators who acted without all the demands, and who have always had full confidence. The investigations must continue with respect for the confidentiality of the investigation under the authority of the specialized public prosecution in Paris. And it will be with the same determination!! We continue the action!!”.
