What Happened and Will She Return?

Dancing With The Stars season 34 contestant Elaine Hendrix couldn’t compete with her professional dance partner, Alan Bersten, on Halloween Night because of an injury, and now she’s revealed if she’ll be able to dance on November 4’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night. The week before Elaine’s injury, she and Alan had received their highest scores of the season, all 9s, for their Contemporary dance to “Defying Gravity” on Wicked Night.

However, during the Halloween Night episode, Elaine was unable to compete live because she was hospitalized. She and Alan were supposed to dance an Argentine Tango to “Bad to the Bone” by 2WEI, but she was already struggling because she has a titanium joint and, dancing barefoot the previous week, had ripped half the skin off of the bottom of her right foot. In addition, Elaine had some rib pain from an injury she sustained during “Defying Gravity.”

Elaine’s Dancing With The Stars season 34 Halloween Night package revealed that, during rehearsals for the episode, she felt so much pain in her ribs that she couldn’t breathe, and she felt like her muscle was twisted under her ribs. Elaine was then taken to the hospital by ambulance. She was still in the hospital during the live show, so she and Alan were judged and scored on the basis of the footage from their last rehearsal. They received scores of 8 from all of the judges.

What Exactly Happened to Elaine Hendrix During Dancing With The Stars Season 34 Halloween Night Rehearsals?

In an Instagram post, Elaine revealed that she injured her ribs during her performance of “Defying Gravity,” and they seized up, and she couldn’t move during her Halloween Night rehearsal. The doctor said that with a day or two of rest, she should be able to continue in the competition.

Will Elaine Be Competing During Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Night?

In a second Instagram post, Elaine gave an update about whether she’ll be able to compete on Dancing With The Stars season 34 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night. She shared that she was doing “okay.” She said that she was tender and sore, but she was starting pain management on Wednesday, October 29.

Elaine planned to dance on Friday, October 31, after taking a break on Wednesday and Thursday. Elaine and Alan then thanked their fans and the Dancing With The Stars team for all their love and support.

If all goes according to plan, then Elaine will be back in the ballroom for the live Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Night episode on November 4, during which she and Alan will perform a Viennese Waltz to “What the World Needs Now is Love” by Dionne Warwick, as well as participate in a team dance to “Celebration” by Kool & the Gang.

It’s always scary when Dancing With The Stars competitors suffer injuries, but it’s wonderful to hear that Elaine is on the mind. She’s been such an inspiration in the ballroom, proving at 54 years old that people can dance at any age. Elaine has had a very impressive run on Dancing With The Stars season 34 so far, and, hopefully, she’ll continue to advance in the competition and make it to the final to compete for the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.

Dancing With The Stars airs Tuesdays at 8 pm EDT on ABC.
