President Donald Trump continues his trend of attacking late-night TV shows. This time, he has his sights set on one of NBC’s most prominent hosts.
The President of the United States accused Seth Meyers of being a “deranged lunatic” for his beliefs on his official TruthSocial account. He went on to say that his attitude on television was unacceptable and condemned NBC for keeping him on air. Trump even questioned the network’s judgment, “Why does NBC waste its time and money on a guy like this???“
Trump continued to insult Meyers as a TV personality. He deemed him the most untalented person in his field. “Seth Meyers of NBC may be the least talented person to ‘perform’ live in the history of television. In fact, he may be the WORST to perform, live or otherwise.”
The president also claimed in all caps that Meyers might be breaking the law. He believed that the host’s talent, ratings, and criticisms of him may not be legal. “NO TALENT, NO RATINGS, 100% ANTI TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!“
This isn’t Trump’s first time reacting in such a hostile way towards a late-night host. Prior to this, he brutally went after Jimmy Kimmel over a comment he made about Charlie Kirk’s assassination. He even managed to get Kimmel pulled from ABC’s lineup. However, his suspension didn’t last long as the backlash that Disney (which owns the network) received from both its stars and former supporters as a result left them no choice but to bring him back on air.
His emotional return to Jimmy Kimmel Live! restored a little bit of the public’s faith in Disney. However, the industry giant did not act quickly enough to prevent any permanent damage, as many consumers remain angry with the studio.
President Trump also tried to get Jimmy Fallon’s show removed shortly after Kimmel was suspended. He posted on social media that “Fake News NBC” should be the next in line to get canceled. He also called both Fallon and Meyers “two total losers“for having unfavorable opinions of him.
