




BBCA charity is hoping to build Guernsey’s film industry and attract international productions.
The Institute of Screen Arts was set up with industry professionals and the Committee for Economic Development to show what the island has to offer to productions.
The charity also aims to provide opportunities to help people learn new skills and provide grant funding.
Thousands of unused vaccines had to be binned

Health Minister Tom Binet said 11,500 flu vaccines were wasted and 11,300 spring and autumn Covid-19 jabs had to be binned.
Flu jabs were given to 30,900 eligible residents and 14,540 people got their Covid-19 vaccinations in 2024, according to official figures.
‘Lucky’ capsized boat pair thanks rescuers
Pure OceanThe crew of a boat said they had a “lucky escape” after their vessel capsized in gusty winds.
Erwan Leroux, 51, and Audrey Ogereau, 33, were on board their trimaran Koesio during the incident near Perelle Bay, Guernsey, during the Transat Cafe L’Or transatlantic race from Le Havre.
A rescue operation involving Guernsey Coastguard, Civil Protection Volunteers and race organizers took place on Sunday, with the two crew members being airlifted to safety before the boat washed ashore on the island.
Zoo staff ‘heartbroken’ after lazy days

They said a post-mortem examination on Terry, a female Linne’s two-toed sloth, found she had a piece of food lodged in her airway but further results were pending.
The zoo said staff were “heartbroken at the sudden and unexpected death”.
Terry had a 10-month-old daughter, Jemma, who was being monitored by her keepers to ensure she could adjust to life without her mother.
