Al-Sheikha Moza bint Nasir was particularly interested in jewelry from the ancient Egyptian civilization, where she owned a unique collection of rare pieces dating back to the “Egyptian Revival” style, which emerged in the 1920s after the discovery of the tomb of King Tut Amun in 1922.
The French “Cartier” house is considered one of the most prominent jewelry styles that revived Egyptian symbols in its designs at that time, through the use of elements such as Al-Jaraan, the sun-dials, the borders decorated with lotus motifs, and the ancient Egyptian carvings, which were combined with an artistic touch that combined fantasy and precision in detail.
Rare item dates back to 2008
Sheikha Moza was fashioned in 2008 during an official visit to Syria by the French artist Louran Baumer for Dar Kartiyeh.

Sheikha Moza kept a piece that is one of the most prominent of her jewelry, and it is a necklace of several precious stones representing the “four sons of Horus” who were symbols of protection in ancient Egyptian beliefs, where they were carefully carved using turquoise, one of the stones associated with Egyptian civilization.

Al-Sheikha Moza concluded the contract for the exhibition “Crystallization of Time” organized by the Dar Kartiyeh in Tokyo in 2019, to be presented among a group of pieces that represent the relationship between time and art, and highlight how the French Dar could re-read the Pharaoh’s symbols in a luxurious formulation that mimics the power and mystery in one unit.
Bag of gold and silk with a unique artistic touch
The collection of Al-Sheikha Moza was not limited to jewelry, but also included rare bags from the “Kartiyeh” archive, most notably a silk bag decorated with yellow gold and silver, issued in 1925.

The bag is finished with a design depicting young girls picking lotus flowers in Mashhad, consistent with ancient Egyptian decorations, and the original design was documented in the 1997 research book “Judi Rodo” titled “Cartier, 1900-1939”, which covered the evolution of design styles at the door during the first half of the twentieth century.
الذوق الملكي في اقتناء التحف منتراء
Jewelry made of precious metals was known as a symbol of royal luxury since the beginning of the last century, as Egyptian princesses such as Princess Fawzia owned sets of coin protectors made of pure gold and preserved today in the “Museum of Royal Jewelry” in Alexandria.
In this context, Sheikha Moza’s bag joins the series of pieces that represent the meeting of history with modernity in a technical design that bears the imprint of the East in a global framework.
تجسيد للهوية cultural through jewelry
It reflects Sheikha Moza’s passion for Egyptian history and her desire for a contemporary style that combines sophistication and cultural depth.
Every piece of its collection tells a story about the civilization that has inspired the world since thousands of years, and highlights the ability of jewelry to be more than jewelry, but an artistic instrument that conveys the spirit of history to the present.
By mixing European craftsmanship and Egyptian symbols, Sheikha Moza continues to present a unique vision of beauty combining tradition and innovation, making her collection a rare example of how jewelry can transform into a cultural bridge between the past and the present.
