While Genos from One Punch Man is widely known as Saitama’s disciple, his story and development have largely been dictated by his quest for revenge. As explained by Genos when he first met Saitama, a Mad Cyborg attacked his town when he was 15 years old. Ever since, he has been on a quest to become strong enough to defeat the cyborg.
During this time, Genos heavily relied on his benefactor Dr. Kuseno, who not only rescued him but also turned him into a powerful cyborg to help fulfill his wish for revenge. This is why it came as shocking news when One-Punch Man’s latest webcomic chapter revealed that Dr. Kuseno wasn’t Genos’ benefactor, but the mastermind behind his tragic past.
One-Punch Man Reveals the Real Mastermind Behind Genos’ Tragic Past
While the One Punch Man manga was only launched in 2012, its original webcomic written by ONE started releasing its chapters in 2009. This means that it has been over 15 years since the series revealed Genos’ backstory.
All this time, fans believed that Genos’ town was attacked by a Rampaging Cyborg and the one who rescued him was Dr. Kuseno. However, not even for the latest developments revealed in One-Punch Man webcomic’s chapter 156, Dr. Kuseno was actually the mastermind behind Genos’ tragic past.
Just as Genos accused Bofoi of creating the Mad Cyborg who attacked his town, Bofoi stated that what Genos believed he saw were merely manufactured memories implanted within him by Dr. Kuseno. In fact, according to Bofoi, both Genos and Drive Knight were Dr. Kuseno’s pawns in his plan to conquer the world.
One-Punch Man Chapter 156 Uncovers a 7-Year-Long Foreshadowing
As one would expect, even if Bofoi’s words were true, Genos had a hard time accepting them, especially since he believed Bofoi killed Dr. Kuseno the night before by sending an assassin. However, Bofoi claimed that Dr. Kuseno never actually died and was merely putting on a show to fire up Genos’ will.
Shockingly, the revelations didn’t end at just that. Just as Bofoi stated that Dr. Kuseno might still be alive, the webcomic zoomed in on Genos’ ear-piercing, hinting that the doctor was probably listening to their conversation through the device at that very moment.
This development was especially shocking because a fan had previously asked ONE about the ear-piercing back in 2018. At the time, ONE stated that the piercing had a purpose, but it was a secret. Seven years later, the webcomic has now finally revealed the same.
While it is indeed a good thing that the fans now have some clarity about Genos’ real past, as seen in the webcomic, the latest revelations have put Genos in more distress than ever. Hopefully, the webcomic’s next chapters might see Saitama or someone else help the S-Class Hero snap back to reality.
