Jersey leader helping ‘shape the future’ of women’s cricket

The leader of women’s cricket in Jersey said it was inspiring and energizing to be part of a European network of women shaping the future of the sport.

The Jersey Cricket Chief Executive Officer (CEO) represented Jersey at the International Cricket Club (ICC) Europe Female Leaders’ Summit in Glasgow.

Sarah Gomersall said the event brought together women leading cricket across Europe to share ideas, challenge convention and build the future in sport.

The two-day summit, hosted by Cricket Scotland as part of Scottish Women and Girls, welcomed leaders from across Europe, including Ireland, Luxembourg, Finland, Belgium, England and Scotland.

Jersey Cricket said the sessions explored the theme of transferable skills and knowledge to encourage delegates to draw lessons from business, innovation, and other sports to help cricket “thrive”.

Ms Gomersall said it was inspiring and energizing to be part of the network of women who were “shaping cricket”.

“The summit challenged us to think differently about how we grow the game, applying entrepreneurial thinking and collaboration to drive progress,” she said.

Jersey Cricket said as the governing body for the sport, it continued to develop opportunities for female participation at all levels.

“We’re proud that Jersey is seen as an open and accessible cricket destination,” Ms Gomersall said.
