Bride sparks fury after scrubbing professional make-up minutes before wedding

A bride has caused huge controversy online after revealing her last-minute decision to scrub off her wedding make-up just minutes before saying ‘I do’. People are torn on whether she did the right thing

A bride has sparked a furious debate online after washing off her professionally-done make-up just minutes before walking down the aisle.

Feeling your best on your wedding day is incredibly important for any bride, and a huge part of that is being happy with your make-up. Most brides will take the stress out of their wedding morning by hiring a professional make-up artist to do all of the hard work, but it’s always a gamble when someone else paints your face as it might not be the look you’re used to.

But as everyone knows, that’s what bridal make-up trials are for – a test run with your artist gives you the chance to explore what kind of look you want, and to give any feedback on tweaks you want for the big day.

This bride did exactly that with her MUA, but the final result on the big day left her feeling uncomfortable, leading her to scrub off her entire make-up look 20 minutes before saying ‘I do’ – and without even telling the artist.

Lauren, from California took to TikTok to reveal her last-minute decision, and her video has sparked huge controversy online from other brides, make-up artists and shocked viewers alike, with 30 million views and counting.

In the clip, which has since been made private, Lauren said she ‘hated’ her make-up done by the professional, who she did not name, and decided to video herself standing over the sink washing her face while being reassured by one of her bridesmaids. She wrote over her video, “Core memory: getting my make-up done for my wedding, and I hated it so much I decided to wash it off and redo it myself.”

You can hear the bridesmaid easing the tense situation as she said: “No, it’s okay, it’s okay. It’ll be perfect. It’s always just perfect when you do it you always look so pretty.”

She then asked if it would be rude to ask the make-up artist to just do “touch-ups” on her own make-up, and her bridesmaid responded by saying it didn’t matter as she was “never going to see her again.”

Lauren said she instantly felt more comfortable with the makeup removed, she proceeded to claim that the makeup artist hadn’t blended the products down her neck and gave her the ‘wrong lip color’.

She then cuts to sitting on the floor doing her make-up herself, and you can hear one of her friends in the background who says, “Skin tone already matches your neck way better. And in pictures, it’s going to look so much better, too.”

Despite feeling better about doing it herself, the video has angered many people who watched it, as many have questioned why she decided to post the video online. In the clip, Lauren is heard saying: “I can’t wait to make a TikTok about this”.

In response, one angry viewer wrote: “Mean girl vibes. Loved the makeup artist job,” while another penned: “Your energy says it all….my heart goes out to the makeup artist.”

Many were quick to compliment the artist’s work, as one person commented: “If the makeup artist is watching. YOU DID A GREAT JOB ON HER MAKEUP.”

However, others believed Lauren did the right thing by washing it off. One user said: “I’m proud of her for washing it off if she wasn’t happy and comfortable!”

The official makeup artist who did the bridal look has since broken her silence with her own TikTok, giving her version of the events. Her response video has racked up over 28 million views, with thousands rallying to support her.

The artist, who goes by the name @twirlyshears online, said Lauren washing off her makeup “doesn’t really bother” her, but it was that the bride had been “so easy to work with” and “nothing but sweet” to her that left her upset and puzzled. You can hear her voice breaking telling her side, even she is visibly stunned by Lauren’s true feelings.

One TikToker commented on the makeup artist’s video: “Hearing your voice shook broke my heart. I thought your work looked great,” while another added: “I can hear the hurt in your voice. I’m so sorry, people can be so cruel.” Meanwhile, another saw light in the situation and said: “She just gave you a platform to shine on, her loss!”
