Toyota Motor Corporation announced on Monday that its global sales increased by 4.7% on an annual basis during the first half of the current year.
This is due to the increase in demand for hybrid cars in North America and China, despite the effect of the higher tariffs imposed by the American president, Donald Trump.
The Japanese Kyodo news agency reported that Toyota sold 5 million, 267,000, and 216 cars in six months, which is the highest number in the last half of the year.
Toyota said that global production increased by 6.0% to reach 4 million, 985 thousand and 122 cars, and local production increased by 3.4% to reach 1 million, 585 thousand and 633 cars.
Sales in the United States increased by 11.3% to reach 1 million, 295,606 cars due to the strong demand for all-female cars.
And for the fiscal year until March 2026, Toyota expects net profits to drop by 44.2% to 2.66 trillion yen (17 billion dollars), as cost reductions and increased sales of some models are not expected to offset the increase in American customs duties on cars.
