Jonathan Rhys Meyers & Ben Miles Join Horror Film ‘The Catch’ — AFM

EXCLUSIVE: Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors) and Ben Miles (Tetris) are set to star in The Catcha new horror film from Epic Pictures and Mermaid Films that begins production in March.

From filmmaker Jo Southwell (Call the Midwife), The Catch follows a ruthless culinary showdown as a brilliant but obsessive chef journeys to Cornwall in search of the rarest seafood of all — a mermaid. As obsession turns to madness, the chef learns that some legends are better left undiscovered.

Sara Gibbings (Welcome to Wrexham) is producing, with Epic Pictures introducing the project to buyers at AFM as its global sales rep.

The Catch is a razor-sharp blend of myth and obsession, a story that reminds us that the real monsters are often human,” said Patrick Ewald, CEO of Epic Pictures and executive producer on the project. “With Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Ben Miles bringing fierce depth to their roles, and the visionary partnership of Jo Southwell and Sara Gibbings steering the project, this haunting film is destined to make waves.”

An Irish actor best known for his Emmy-nominated and Golden Globe-winning turn as Elvis Presley in CBS’s miniseries Elvis and his three-time Golden Globe-nominated portrayal of King Henry VIII in The TudorsMeyers is repped by Artist International Group and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

Miles, an English actor, has appeared in Apple TV+’s Hijack with Idris Elba and Tetris with Taron Egerton, as well as the Disney+ Star Wars series Andor. Recently seen in Steven Moffat’s Douglas Is Cancelled and the features Widow Clicquot (with Haley Bennett) and Black Canary (opposite Kate Beckinsale), he is repped by Markham, Froggatt and Irwin.
