EXCLUSIVE: Eric Palladino (Godfather of Harlem) and Rob Demery (Robin Roberts Presents: Mahalia) are the latest additions to the cast of I Play Rockythe making-of-Rocky film from director Peter Farrelly and Amazon MGM Studios.
Joining Anthony Ippolito, who stars as a young Sylvester Stallone, Palladino will portray Stallone’s boxing coach, Pete, with Demery as Joe Frazier, the legendary boxer who made a cameo in Rocky. As previously announced, the ensemble also includes AnnaSophia Robb, PJ Byrne, Toby Kebbell, Tracy Letts, Jay Duplass, Matt Dillon, Stephan James, Kiki Seto, Robert Morgan, Saul Stein, and Trevor St. John.
Currently in production, I Play Rocky tells the true story of an unknown actor with an unshakable belief that he wasn’t just meant to write Rocky — he was meant to be Rocky Balboa. Told no at every turn, Stallone bets everything on himself, refusing to sell his script unless he could star, in the ultimate underdog story behind one of Hollywood’s most enduring classics.
Toby Emmerich, Christian Baha, and Farrelly are producing the pic, scripted by Peter Gamble, with FilmNation Entertainment handling production services and international sales.
Currently recurring on MGM+’s Godfather of HarlemPalladino’s other credits include series like Suits, Watchmenand The Marvelous Mrs. Maiselas well as films like Can’t Hardly Wait. He’ll next appear opposite Kiefer Sutherland and Al Pacino in the action thriller Father Joe penned and produced by Luc Besson. He is represented by Greene Talent and The Coronel Group.
