A driving expert has taken to social media to inform motorists there is a button in their car which can be ‘dangerous’ if pressed, so should be avoided at all costs
It’s all too easy to get button-happy in your motor without flicking through the manual, but one bloke issued a stark warning against this – branding one button “dangerous” and advising motorists to steer clear of it.
Car whizz @carknowledge_ is a regular on TikTok, dishing out top-notch car tips, tricks for a crystal-clear windscreen, and revealing all those hidden gems you never knew your ride had up its sleeve.
But now he’s on a mission to alert people that “99% of drivers ignore this dangerous button in the car”, as he explained which one it is and why you should give it a wide berth. “The button I’m talking about is this ‘off’ which is the vehicle body stabilization system, also known as the vehicle anti-skid system,” he pointed out, indicating the notorious button not to press in the car.

He laid out this gizmo is “enabled by default”, and you “must not touch it”, because hitting it means “once pressed, the anti-skid system will automatically turn off”. He then threw in a caution that if it’s deactivated when turning sharply or accelerating sharply, “the vehicle is likely to slip”, and in extreme scenarios, could even “roll”.
The experts over at KBB reckon that while you can knock traction control off, it’s “rare you’ll need to”. They advised: “You can turn off the safety feature, although it’s rare you’ll need to. But traction control must remain activated in driving instances like heavy rain, snow, or icy conditions.”
They additionally cautioned: “Traction control can be the difference between staying on the road and crashing your car due to skidding, including when the roads are wet or icy.”
Meanwhile they advocate for keeping it activated “most of the time”, even in moments when conditions “seem safe”, as a precautionary measure for drivers’ peace of mind.
