The film brings together the elements of psychological terror and local Palestinian legends, and it is scheduled to be shared by Balstia al-Aqad with Ahmed Shahab al-Din, who was nominated for the award in 2012.

The series “Al-Zaira” was finished by Rola Salbak in 2023, but it stopped because of the start of the Israeli attack on Gaza on the seventh of October 2023 while searching for a permanent production company.

The author explained that no one wanted to finance it, especially after the CAA administration abandoned it, which is the same agency that resigned from it after criticizing the war on Gaza.

The film “Al-Zaire” is slated to be shot for 25 days in Jordan during 2026, after collaborating with Watermelon Productions, a company founded in 2024 that supported the Oscar-nominated film “Zero Point”.

The writer and director, Rola Salbak, said that she would like to receive the film for participation in the international festival, to promote the presence of Palestinian cinema in the field of horror films.

For that reason, Munir Attalallah, head of the production department at Watermelon Pictures, explained that the writer Rola Selbak is unique in presenting a bold start to Palestinian horror films, expressing her intense enthusiasm for the film.

He pointed out that the main theme of the film discusses the idea of ​​God and the deep human need until it is visible, explaining that it reveals a more painful reality than living under occupation is more terrifying than the horror in the popular stories.

It is mentioned that Balstia al-Aqad is a Palestinian journalist and content creator, 23 years old, who knew the world about the beginning of the war on Gaza through documenting videos of what is happening in the Gaza Strip, but she had to travel abroad in order to preserve her life and her family.
