Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, the Governor of Assiut, signed a joint cooperation protocol with Dr. Sharif Sedqi, the CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency, to support the fields of education, scientific discussion, and dissemination of space culture in the governorate, in a strategic step aimed at linking scientific research with sustainable development efforts in accordance with the directives of the political leadership in accordance with Egypt’s 2030 vision and sustainable development strategy.
The protocol was signed during the activities of the workshop organized by the governorate, with the headquarters of Badr University in the new city of Nasser, under the title “Alfaza and sustainable development.
The governor of Assiut confirmed, in his speech during the signing ceremony, that this cooperation comes within the framework of the implementation of the directives of the political leadership with digital transformation and the promotion of innovation, pointing out that the province of Assiut has youth forces and discussion groups qualified to benefit from this fruitful cooperation.
The governor explained that this joint cooperation aims to support the development and scientific efforts in Asia through several topics, including the organization of activities and exhibitions and awareness campaigns for school and university students, and the training of local staff on space technologies and the future, in addition to the implementation of discussion projects that serve the environment and community development in the province.
He added that the protocol provides for the exchange of data and information, including satellite images and digital maps, to support urban planning efforts and monitor encroachments on agricultural land, as well as the use of geographic information system (GIS) applications to improve services and infrastructure project planning, and the protocol also includes cooperation in holding scientific conferences and research forums, developing the capabilities of students and researchers, and preparing proposals for joint research projects that are national, with the possibility Involve other parties in the implementation of these projects with the desired scientific benefit and development.
On his part, he congratulated Professor Dr. Sharif Sedeky, the CEO of the Egyptian Space Agency, for the important role played by the governorates in supporting the programs of the Egyptian Space Agency, confirming that the agency is eager to expand the scope of local partnerships to build a new generation of specialists in space science and applications.
