MTV’s Ridiculousness Canceled After 46 Seasons, Episodes To Air Until 2026

After being on the air for 46 seasons across 14 years, Ridiculousness is coming to an end on MTV. The show launched in 2011 with host Rob Dyrdek, who has had different co-hosts over the years, including Sterling “Steelo” Brim, Chanel West Coast and Lauren “Lolo” Wood. Ridiculousness season 46 is currently airing on MTV.

According to Variety, Ridiculousness has been canceled, but previously filmed episodes will continue to air through 2026. The number of episodes in each season has fluctuated greatly, with some seasons airing fewer than 10 episodes and others airing 50 or even 100+ episodes. It’s unclear what the episode count will be for the final season.

Reruns of Ridiculousness can still be found on MTV’s schedule, along with a handful of seasons on Paramount+. At the moment, seasons 2, 3 and 7-12 are available on the streamer.

Ridiculousness has been a consistent and reliable show for MTV over the years. The premise of the show is that Dyrdek and the panel will show viral videos and then react to the hijinks and stunts.

MTV turned Ridiculousness into a franchise, with multiple spinoffs being ordered: Amazingness (also hosted by Dyrdek but canceled after one season), Deliciousness (three seasons with host Tiffani Thiessen), Adorableness (one season with host James Davis) and Messyness (two seasons with Jersey Shore‘s Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi as host).

With the rise of YouTube and social media came worries that clip shows like America’s Funniest Home Videos would cease to exist. However, AFV is still going strong after 36 years. Ridiculousnesswhich debuted after the launch of YouTube, leaned into the concept of viral videos but differentiated itself from AFV by including snarky reactions from a panel.

While a specific reason was not given for the show’s cancellation, Ridiculousness ending comes as MTV’s parent company Paramount makes major changes under new ownership. MTV had already been cutting back on airing original shows (and some network executives were laid off this week). Catfishone of the few originals left, was just canceled last month after nine seasons.

MTV recently ended several of its music channels, although the flagship network isn’t going anywhere–at least for now. It appears that Paramount is looking into revamping its existing cable channels like MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon instead of spinning them off into a separate company like NBCUniversal recently did with several of its cable channels.

MTV used to be a hub for music videos back in the 1980s and 1990s (after all, the M in MTV used to stand for “music”).

However, it eventually transitioned into a network full of reality shows like The Osbournes, Punk’d and Jersey Shore when music videos became less popular.

With the end of shows like Catfish and RidiculousnessMTV faces an uncertain future. Time will tell what Paramount’s plans are, but at least for now, fans can still tune in Ridiculousness through 2026.

Ridiculousness airs Wednesdays at 9:30 pm EST on MTV.
